Mirotic is blocking the trade over guaranteeing next season
The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.
ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.
GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding
These words should not be used lightly
That was...quick.
"Timing is everything. Chemistry is something that you don't just throw in the frying pan and mix it up with another something, then throw it on top of something, then fry it up and put it in a tortilla and put in a microwave, heat it up and give it to you and expect it to taste good. You know? For those of you who can cook, y'all know what I'm talking about. If y'all can't cook, this doesn't concern you."
Essentially, Mirotic has control over his future with a trade. He can't be sure that New Orleans will pick up his $12.5M option next season -- unless Chicago does it for him prior to completing the trade. It is understandable why Mirotic isn't eager to cost himself that $12.5M.

Just when you thought we did something good, it falls through #PelsLife
Chicago and New Orleans don't need Mirotic's permission to make trade should his $12.5M team option in 2018-19 get guaranteed with a trade. Without that salary guaranteed prior to finalizing trade, teams need Mirotic to agree. Otherwise, Mirotic likely becomes a rental for Pels.

There is still hope, we would be smart to guarantee him that $12.5m, the guy would gel well with AD and Boogie. Nice 3 big rotation.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.
Doesn't Chicago have to guarantee the option, THEN do the trade? If that's the case, then it's on them. Not us.
Very confusing, why would we not guarantee that?
Is Demps really considering not resigning him and truly considering throwing away a first for a half season rental?
The Pels could and can not find a better big with upside to back up a recovering Boogie and oft banged up Davis.
It’s not my first choice of move but it would a shame if this falls apart because Demps won’t guanrantee what would be a pretty moveable contract.
Hahahahahahahahaha #PelsLife
If Demps blows this, just don’t even show up to work on February 9th! Lol okay that might’ve been extreme. But come on.
I agree with all. If 12.5 is the holdup, this would be a done deal
Ok, so reading a couple of credible Chicago beat writers on Twitter like K.C. Johnson, the word is the talks are ongoing, in advanced stages, but the option hasn’t been picked up by the Bulls and there seems be a bit of a salary hiccup. We may need to send someone else out in the trade to make it work.
Tony Allen?
To clarify — The #Pelicans Mirotic deal is still on the table. Just comes down to that $12.5 million option and adding another player or two to balance the salaries of the deal.

Could be a smoke screen.
Showing the other teams what our first and Asik could fetch.
There needs to be more than just Asik and Mirotic going out salary wise.
Tony or Alexis. Keep Moore and Miller please.
Would be nice if we could make it a larger deal (i.e. send Allen and Nelson and get back Grant or add Ajinca and get back Holiday, but that is dreaming).
