If the entire argument is based off of low cost players filling rosters around superstars then draft picks are usually some of the worst. They either don't produce early enough to be relevant or you spend the time developing them and they require you to break the bank to keep them. While you can grab a vet and plug him in for cheap and he will usually produce just as good or better.

Certainly you would not a whole team of draft picks, but you have to build a roster that has some value today AND in the future. Teams do not turn over their roster every year. Every so often, it does not hurt to have a cheaper developmental player via a 1st round pick. Those player have the potential to have value in many ways whether it be their salary, their potential development into a contributor or value in a trade. Taking the approach of dumping 1st rounders and just filling a roster with league minimum players would not have helped us build our roster via the Cousins trade. First rounders have value in ways other than dumping GM's bad decisions or adding marginal players to a roster.

I agree with this, which is why I disagreed with the first post I quoted from you. I don't think draft picks is actually about cap management because minimum vets are usually better ( especially early on) and cheaper. Draft picks are about long term control of players.

I'm liking Mikal Bridges. A lot. Like, as in I think he'd be PERFECT for us. Basically a Kawhai Leonard clone.
