Recent Spate of Articles on Pels

Some of these are of higher quality than others, and most are working off the same sets of interviews and quotes, but its the heart of the dead season in the NBA, and for once a team like the Pels is getting a lot of chatter, so thought I would collect them up for offseason entertainment purposes:

Not positive here, picking up on the same comment I shook my head at:

Cousins' recruitment has included the biggest names in the league, btw.

He said he did not want to name names, but this should excite lots of people if Cousins stays.

Does it really matter who they are if they said nah tho?

Are you sure they said no? If its someone that won't be a FA until NEXT season, you wouldn't know anything about it right now.

The only people it's been reported he recruited were Rondo and Clark, so... Maybe he's batting a thousand?

    According to Gentry, yes.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

Cousins seems to have more reach with players than people give him credit for.

He's a smart guy, Team USA for years with all those contacts, a prominent part of the Kentucky family which composes a major chunk of the league, All Star games, and of course Sactown passed half of the league (the lower half of course) through Sactown in their eternal churn since they drafted him. And he's always doing these charity games and whatnot every summer too just to increase his reach even further.

I was interested to read the quotes of Boogie waxing so positively about his relationship with Dell. Guy must be doing something right.

To back this up, this new article:

And the Melo possibility does not really shock me either -- he's always really liked Melo on Team USA. This article goes so far as to claim Melo was his idol. Sure they have a lot of bro conversations about George Karl.

What do we have to offer the Knicks? Do we even have the cap room?

No. It would have to be a trade of players to match. What we would offer would be our picks as the only thing of value we have.

Not enough to entice the Knicks to take back our bad contracts as compensation.

It's that the Hornets unashamedly quit so quickly in Game 4 after fans in New Orleans showed up this season with greater regularity than the team could have ever dreamed, shaming misinformed know-it-alls like me who kept telling you that local residents couldn't possibly invest their time and money into something as trivial as rooting for the local basketball team while still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. - Mark Stien ESPN

I hate that there's zero legs to this. Cousins tweets some eyes or says Truth to someone saying it'd be awesome if Melo came here and because it's a slow news cycle...

    Oh whatever.

I mean Melo's value is pretty low around the league. We just saw what Jimmy Butler and Paul George got in trades too. Maybe a 3rd team could get involved if the Knicks prefer young players.

Last trade deadline a 1st, Austin Rivers, and matching contracts was enough to get him and Doc refused.

Well yeah, but...Austin of course. May have cost him his GMship finally.
