Trading Ajinca just creates another hole we have to fill.

Our best hope is Asik stays "sick" and doesn't play this year so we can file for medical retirement and he can be removed from our books just like Bosh.
With Davis, Boogie and presumably Cunningham, I doubt Ajinca is in the rotation anyhow. Play small ball and Diallo as your 4th big(s) and the team isn't worse for it.

Dell pretty much prefers to pay early 2nd rounders. We wont have the money for another 1st next season with the signing of Cousins.

    Thibs is familiar with Asik.

    Who says no?
Not sure we would be saving enough in that deal to warrant a 1st rounder. I would pass.

    As to center.
We are assuming that AD/DMC will play all center minutes. When healthy.
The rest PF minutes will go to Diallo. Hill and Dante (hopefully). Enough bodies for 28 minutes. Also Miller was supposed to play a little there.
If any of AD-DMC combo will be injured we can play small ball with more minutes for Diallo, Hill and Dante.
If AD and DMC wont play - you may target ICE Diaw, Lee or Zeller for minimum
I don't think AD and Cousins play all the center minutes when healthy at all.

Really? We gave them a better deal last year and they didn't take it what makes you think they'd take this one?

Also we gave them a better deal because we over estimated his value.

It's a done deal. Kyrie is a Celtic.

And the Cavs are about to get a damn good unprotected pick and Isaiah Thomas.

The Kings and Pacers got nothing in comparison.

The Pacers were dumb to make that deal, they should have held out and could have probably gotten something better from the C's.

At least Kyrie stays in the east.

Does this mean we get Melo? Lol

Damn, Cleveland gets Thomas, Crowder, Ante Zizic and Brooklyn's 2018 first-round pick for Kyrie Irving.

That's a steal by Cleveland for a guy that demanded to be traded.

Kings and Pacers were dealing with stars on expiring deals. Kyrie has an extra year. I was pretty shocked at first, especially with the Nets pick being involved, but it makes a lot of sense for Boston:

-Kyrie brings a lot of the same and is younger, lateral move immediately but better long term outlook.
-Younger star works with long term plan involving Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
-Boston did not want to deal with paying IT a max contract.

Cleveland got as much as they could hope for. If LeBron is done with them after this year then they can let IT walk as well and try to get a lotto pick for Love and/or Thompson and go rebuild with a Nets (likely) lotto pick and whatever they can get for Love. Really hard to see LeBron and IT being paid by Cleveland next offseason.

It's the type of deal that would have been hated on by fans if another fan suggested it, but I can see how it works for both sides. I think both Kyrie and IT have murky value as far as star players go.

Interesting point on this trade: The #1 and #60 pick in the 2011 draft are essentially being dealt for one another.

So do you think there is a chance that we could make a play for Kyle Korver that the Cavs would accept?

Nice deal for the Cavs. I am surprised Ainge gave up that much. Did they really have that much competition for him in the way of solid deals from other teams?

I'm guessing Danny watched the Finals the last couple years and fell in love. I think it makes a lot of sense for the Celtics and balances out their 'win now and also win later' philosophy nicely.

  18. #2668
Brooklyn pick + Thompson for Drummond? Brooklyn pick + Love for Melo?

  19. #2669
    Danny just got hosed.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

It saves you enough money to re-sign Cunningham and have a C that can actually play.
You could then add Minny's 2nd rounder or our's which ever you think will be worse with Ajinca to add another shooter.

  22. #2672
So glad Kyrie didn't come West

He just got the coveted Nets pick and a very good role player as well as IT. He didn't get hosed

Edit: Wait I was thinking you meant Danny Ferry

Yeah Cavs did very well out of the trade

I think we can officially say that LBJ will be gone next offseason. Ain't going to win a title with that crew next year.

    I think the C's won that.....slightly.

IT was not going to get overpaid by Boston and he is 29.
Crowder is a role player behind Howard and will want to get paid in a few seasons.
    Zizic is unknown.

If you break it down it was Irving for the 2018 pick (top 5).

Just like it was Boogie for Heild and the 7th pick this year.

    Maybe we got hosed?
