Thread: Free Agency Thread

    NBA Free Agency Thread

With a few hours left before FA officially begins, it's probably practical to start a thread where we can dump all the FA rumors, Pelicans-related or not, into one location.

    Just to get us started:

    Teague market

    Ingles market

    Simmons market

Iggy fielding offers from other teams

    Rondo waived

    Redick market

    Snell market

    Henderson waived

    Griffin market

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ade/443518001/ --> Interest from PHX, BOS, MIA

    Hayward market

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

    Jrue market

Demps equals idiot. Why would you let someone know you will do anything to resign them. Driving up cost

Man, I would love to land Simmons for $9 mill a season. I would prefer a coup of Rondo and Simmons over the Holiday brothers. How do you make it happen though?
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

That would be a great value signing for the Spurs. I expected his market to be a bit more competitive than that. Time will tell.

There's also a bit of noise on George Hill, but nothing too substantial. Possible speculative links to SA and MINN.

Also some speculation about Minnesota going after Lowry with Rubio gone. Butler tried to recruit him to Chicago before he was traded.

Feel free to embed more tweets as they come.

    Simmons shines at the Spurs.
Bring him to this franchise and he doesn't put up those numbers.

Care to explain why you feel that way?

    Iggy market

    Gallinari market

    Lowry market

Kennedy also posted a tweet about Dallas being interested, but may have deleted it...

Alex Kennedy: Add the Mavericks to the list of teams pursuing Kyle Lowry, per source. Lowry would help Dallas compete now and he’d mentor Dennis Smith Jr.

The Arenas rule applies to Simmons I'm pretty sure, so that deflates his market value and puts a relatively low ceiling on his contract.

The hardest of passes on Rondo. Not only is he garbage at basketball (with the few nationally televised exceptions), he's the antithesis of what this team needs.

so I believe FA opens at midnight Eastern time... meaning the meetings with free agents on the west coast start at 9 PM (which is good time for a beer or some cheese fries)
"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin

Sounds like Teague to MIN is close to a done deal:

The supermax at work. Insane numbers.

He'll apparently take the week to think it over.

if Jrue has to sleep on his offer. I would phone him at 4am & tell him "hey, we thought about it and we signed Rondo 2/26. So, go back to bed Jrue, you can sleep in"

I know I would respect Demps more if he did that.

Is Ingles really worth 15m/yr? Geez.

Yet more evidence fans don't know jack about the free agent market.

  24. #24
Ingles getting paid! And I was talking about him being a guy the Pels should look to bring in because he wouldn't be too expensive and is a great glue guy that can shoot.
