"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."
i hope the new coach can talk gentry into using ajinca more.....
Why are you misrepresenting what I said? I didn't say immediately after Cousins resigns I would fire Gentry. I said I wouldn't fire either until after we have Cousins locked in long term. That could mean anything from the same summer to 4 years down the road. I also would discuss with AD and Cousins any changes to make sure they understand.
As far as being locked in if we win, why would we care? If we make a deep playoff run Gentry SHOULD be extended. Or at least play out his contract. Why would we make a change if we are winning?
Having team option on a contract is great for a team.
When we will have success -you are using team option and have another year to evaluate.
If he will fail you can fire him with little consequence.
Good situation for Pels.
Play-offs and good play virtually guarantees using TO.
The Pelicans have officially hired Chris Finch and, per league sources, have offered a front-office position to former assistant Phil Weber
