Pelicans Pelicans ESPN writer Justin Verrier out in massive ESPN layoff today

So sad... he was always on point and a great resource to our team. Best of luck JV!

What a shame. I hope he lands on his feet.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

He was legitimately very good at what he does and will surely land on his feet on some smarter website.

ESPN fired off a lot of people day. Seems they did it,without giving them any notice either. Pretty low class move.

Damn, Verrier was one of my favorite writers even before he came to the Pelicans. Had the pleasure of his company a number of times when I used to cover Summer League and the Olympic trials. Hard to believe ESPN will put out a better product without him.

Pretty big loss for Pelicans coverage IMO. I figured getting Boogie would make it more likely we keep our own writer, but I guess I was mistaken.

Programming has gotten pretty awful for ESPN. I don't think these layoffs will make them any better. ESPN driving cable prices through the roof and many people said screw it we will just cut the cord.

Warriors lost one of their writers - well respected Ethan Strauss.
So it is a bigger problem IMO...

Good luck to Justin in whatever new gig he gets, wish him all the best. Crappy situation but unfortunately these things happen, sure he will land somewhere else perfectly fine. Appreciate his work on the Pels up till now!

This isn't the time or the place for this type of comment. You're taking advantage of a guy wrongfully losing his job just to voice your frustration with an NBA franchise. Show some class.

Sir I am not taking a jab at this man.
In the business world two things are for sure.
The day you get hired and the day you lose a contract or get fired.
Its all part of the real world it's today's economic growth.
    Downsize and replace.

Two things true in life - you are born and you die - doesn't mean you have to dance on someone's grave at their funeral and give a speech about overpopulation
