Portland sends Mason Plumlee a 2018 second round pick for Nurkic and a 2017 first-rounder (via Memphis), league sources tell @TheVertical

Portland has three first-round picks in the loaded 2017 NBA Draft now.

Not counting Plumlee but is Nurkic worth a 1 and a 2? Sheesh. Maybe Plumlee was a salary dump, and the 2nd was a salary dump.
Edit - Dang I read that wrong... Good move portland.
Portland gets size/strength, spares paying Plumlee extension this summer; Denver gets a good passing center to play with Jokic.

Never imagined Denver as a viable landing spot for Okafor, but Portland would've made some sense. Got a great deal for Nurkic though.

Besides having 3 first rd. picks in June, POR now will likely avoid the potential of a large luxury tax for 17-18 with Plumlee as a RFA.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."
Denver had a center that didn't fit and had potential. Still had to give up a 1st rounder to trade him. Yes they get Plumlee and a 2nd rounder back but that's a high price. Especially being a 2017 pick.
This also removes a trade destination for Okafor.
Maybe Moore, Asik, 2018 1st for Okafor and filler is looking more viable.
Sources say that this trade does not take POR out of the Okafor running. Could pair him with Nurkic long term at C. Extra picks to deal now. https://t.co/xnYAH8EcmM

Denver wanted C. And Plumlee was available for a fair price.
If Plumlee will be ok. They will have his rights. If no - they wont match in RFA.
Still POR won the trade long term.
Hopefully Bulls will go after Okafor.
I hear Denver gave up Memphis first. If true that's not bad, pick will likely be 18--22 range.
Yeah, I don't think Keith Smith has any sources other than information that has already been tweeted with some guessing on his part. I like trade rumors though so whatever
From my experience, Smitty (Keith Smith) really knows his stuff. I think you all are selling him way short. I'm sure some of the stuff he is given may be intentional leaks, but the guy is in the thick of the NBA circles.
