Pels help "exploratory" trade talks with ATL about D-Howard

Just got the alert on my phone from Bleacher.

The Pelicans and Atlanta Hawks recently held exploratory talks about possible Dwight Howard trades. Atlanta ultimately decided to pull everyone off the market.

The level of interest from New Orleans is unclear and there was not unanimous support within the organization in trading for Howard.

In theory, Dwight makes sense. Big, takes the load of playing the 5 off AD. Blocks shots. Rebounds.

    In practice...

He's been really good this year and is locked up long term. Get him for relatively cheap and it'd make some sense.

Our attempts to recreate Houston ex back court continues to perplex, however.

If it were possible, I think it would be a smart move actually. Dwight has played very well and would solve a lot of or problems. But it would be a very short term move. Dwight's 31, and bigs don't age gracefully. Especially ones with back issues.

Its a shame in a great article written by Lowe this in the click bait things you guys jump at not about the situation with Holiday.

To be fair, the link takes you to a blurb solely about Howard. You have to click an ESPN link (eww) to get all the juicy bits.

Man, D12 in Orlando was the Louie V version, then he went to LA and became the Wal Mart version, in Houston he was the KMart version, in ATL he is the Dollar Tree version, we will essentially be getting the Goodwil version once he gets here.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

I think getting Dwight would improve the team a lot. I don't want to trade Buddy though.

We could attract more FA with AD and DH.

Zach Lowe had it in his article about the Jrue:

No way! That would be super stupid!

I wouldn't mind giving a future pick and asik, AA, reke, or hill. Just not 2017 DH only has 2 years left and probably wouldn't be resigned. Problem is if we did it, we want to try and make the playoffs this year, odds slim and still not sure we can compete.

But if we look at next year, we could be looking at Howard, AD, Hill, Buddy, JH and or rookie PG. If Asik and Reke was moved, we may be able to keep JH.

Just ask the Lakers and Rockets.
