Jeremy Lin Was Intrigued By Possibility Of Signing With Pelicans

Jeremy Lin met with both the Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans at the start of free agency in Palo Alto at 9:01 PM.

Lin was coming off an excellent season with the Charlotte Hornets in which he restored his value.

Lin announced his decision to sign with the Nets at 7:02 AM just a few hours later.

"This is where I want to be," said Lin, who signed a three-year, $36 million deal with Brooklyn that includes a player option in the final year. "I feel this is the best place for me to become the player I think I can become. I want to see how good I can become and be a big part of an organization, and that's what they gave me here."

The Houston Rockets also showed interest in Lin but talks never progressed.

While Lin was intrigued by the idea of playing with Anthony Davis, the Pelicans weren't willing to commit the type of contract he received from the Nets.

Chase dollars in NJ, or chase a playoff spot here. All things being equal, give the cash over the potential playoff spot.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Would've been nice to pick him up. I thought he played fairly well in Charlotte. But I'm on board with not paying a whole lot for him. I'm perfectly fine with Tim Frazier who I feel has a higher ceiling than Lin.

No way Frazier has a higher ceiling than Lin. I like Frazier just fine as our 3rd PG but he will never be as good a player as Lin. Not that I wanted Lin, I like Galloway as our backup for the $$$.

I think Lin at this point is probably at peak JJack level. So borderline starter for a decent team, full time starter for a below average team, which I think is whats gonna happen to the nets.

Also, that's how octopi talk. They squibber. Yes, it's a word. Shut up.

Preseason it may be. But Frazier has looked much better than Galloway

    J. Lin wouldn't fit our style with his style of play.

He wouldn't have been chasing a playoff spot here or NJ.
The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.

ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding

These words should not be used lightly

Kinda glad he didn't sign here. Lin fans are worse than Fredette fans easily

Lol I can't believe anybody would take Lin and his $ over Frazier and what he's being paid. That would have been such a terrible signing.

12 millions is a fair money.
But we didn't want to spend so much money on him.

    Especially when:
    - according to Kushner - Solomon Hill had 3 offers.
    - Moore had other offers...

Dell had some amount of money in his head and he passed from Lin.

    Then Galloway become available.
