Assuming two players go out in a Tyreke trade and we only take one back, this explains why we've been looking at so many players still.
I mean, he's crazy but, league minimum?
I'm all for it if he buys in. dude played decent last season
I'm a grinder
Tyreke + Ajinca for Monroe seems like the most likely trade that both sides would be ready to pull the trigger on.
Or we could be bracing for a stretch without Tyreke until like December.
I'm for it at the right price. At least he's decent and can play defense.
We have 15 guaranteed contracts, Stephenson can't be signed without moving someone. They aren't going to cut guys they just signed, and they can't trade anyone they just signed until December. That means you either move
AD/Jrue Definitely not
QPon Very likely not
Cunningham/Ajinca/Tyreke Maybe
I guess you could dump Cunningham or Ajinca, but I think Demps values both of those guys too much to just dump them. Some of his best moves have been trading guys like that for similar caliber players that fit better. He also got 2 2nds for Ish which makes dumping either of those for nothing but a roster spot seem like a loss. I guess it could come down to does he like Stephenson more than Cunningham/Ajinca, but I think a Tyreke+Ajinca for Monroe swap gives him more of a win.
Getting Stephenson would up my excitement a little bit for this season. Always thought he had a lot of talent. Worth the minimal risk IMO especially if we can get a 2nd year team option

What if Lance is more QPon insurance than Reke insurance?
For a very low price, maybe. A big maybe.
I'm all for it! I'm pretty sure Lance has learned a lot about the error of our ways just like the rest of us. I like the fact that he can be physical and tough.
Talented, but I wouldn't risk it. Things could go sideways and explode.
Crazy seeing people so high on him when he has such a well-documented checkered past.
He came into the league as a nobody. He was noted for making a choking gesture at Lebron during the playoffs while being a virtual no one. He did well for one year couple years later. That offseason his team offered him an $11M/3yr contract. He thought he could make more on the market and the best offer he could find was $9M. That first year with his new team where he was given the ball and played through more he had more shots attempted than points made. He ended that year with 17% 3pt and 42% FG percentage as a shooting guard. He was benched mid way through the season and then injured. Later he was traded to the Clippers where he wouldn't need to be relied on more than providing depth. He was traded for Matt Barnes and Spencer Hawes, the Hornets taking on salary to rid themselves of Lance. He was paired with a first round pick to go to Memphis to get a serviceable player in Jeff Green back because while with the Clips he averaged less than 5 points a game in 16 minutes per. In Memphis his usage percentage skyrocketed to an all-time high of 25.3% due to them having a season that had even more injuries than us. That level of usage is the same as this last season's Trey Burke, Dirk Nowitzki, and Bradley Beal, higher than Ryan Anderson, and shooting less efficiently. He has gone into the end of August unsigned.
This should tell us all we need to know about Lance Stephenson. The best minds in basketball have thus-far not been willing to attempt to sign him this late for a minimum, even after putting up decent stats (albeit with high usage) at the end of the season. I'm not going to sit here and say the guy has no chance or he's garbage, or a headcase or anything, I don't know him personally and I don't know the future.
So on one hand, you have that he played one good season (you could probably argue he played a good half season before that and a good quarter season last year) and on the other hand you have all that.
A guy who has at least shown 1 good year in the NBA is better than d leaguers if both are on a minimum deal.
I think everyone who might be ok with bringing him in is realizes he's been bad too. But on minimum deal with very limited minutes there is basically no risk.
Bring him in for the minimum. Tyreke is as good as gone. Could use another ball handler.
If he comes in on a minimum, can't they just cut Reke and eat his contract?
Edit: That's just a question, I would much rather Reke than Lance.

They could. But I doubt we are near that point yet with Tyreke. Especially for a minimum player. Better would be let him get healthy and try to deal him later for something.
I can't believe how many people are excited about Lance. There's a reason 29 other teams have passed on him.
I agree
Checked twice - they have 14 players with Monroe. My mistake
So trade is possible.
and also You can be creative
No with Monroe and Novak they have 15 players.
