Contracts are gonna be crazy this summer. I expect Barnes and Ryno to both be offered a max contract, even though they're not worth it.

So, Noah gets to be 30% of their cap space. HUH. I guess Gortat is toast.

If this is a sign of things to come (and it likely is), we need to send Demps on a long vacation while the craziness of free agency shakes out. We should not even try to compete. Wait for the potential "bargains" later.

Chandler Parsons is reportedly looking for a MAX contract worth just over $22 million a year.

Parsons has a rough injury history. Why would we bring him in at near max?

I would not give him the max. but would not doubt he gets something close to it from some team. I hope we refrain from giving anyone a max contract in free agency (outside of the obvious superstar).

Mitch Lawrence is legit. He's a host on NBA Radio and a sports writer for the Nets and Forbes.
The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.

ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding

These words should not be used lightly

I don't want to max anyone but batum and he prob isn't worth it. I def wouldn't do it on a guy who just had a micro fracture surg

I hope the Pelicans pay for someone who is worth it. But maybe overpaying is what is going to happen for every team.

I forgot about the new cap. These prices are gonna take a while to get used to.

Yes exactly. The numbers sound crazy but under the new cap they really aren't. Might not ever get use to it because I knew the old numbers so well.

Old cap, new cap, whatever cap that's an insane amount for Noah. We are talking about a guy who is 31, coming off of a bad injury, and has looked like he is declining the past 2 years even before the injury. And they want to throw Max money at him for 4 years?

I really like Noah as a player and competitor but a max contract for a 31 yr old who is not an elite player is pretty rough.

Graham of the BSS' makes a really good correlation between Gentry's comment about a "6'7" facilitator" and Evan Turner..... I wouldn't be opposed to this....

$20 million ain't what it used to be, apparently.

Though I'd glady settle for $2 million.

Batum would be a 6'8 facilitator who plays our biggest position of need after drafting a SG. I think Batum fits Gentrys description pretty well and completes our lineup with a stud SF. Batum is at the top of my list with Barnes and Fournier behind of guys I think we have a realistic shot at.

Give me either Parsons or Batum and I'll consider this offseason a major success.
