    Rumor Brook Lopez

Heard on the Hangover, that Brook Lopez could possibly be returning to the Pels. Dino Hansen reported this.
personally I think he would fit nicely in Gentry system.

Yes, I assume you are talking about Robin Lopez. And is it a rumor? Or speculation?

If I have to move a guy(and get rid of asik) then sign a center,it's not going to be for Robin Lopez.

He's actually played really well in Portland, though I agree I would try and upgrade with a more mobile center who can run in transition.

To get Robin Lopez, you gotta let Asik walk and dump Gordon, Ryno, or Tyreke.

Oh, and you also lose your MLE.

    Does that seem worth it?

Absolutely not which is my point

I'd much rather Deandre or even Greg Monroe if we had to go this route.

You forgot to mention his awful pick and roll defense.
Well it was when he was here.

It was a joke. Assuming you didn't read the other thread.

To have cap space you have to be below the cap, not just with current contracts but also with cap holds, like Asik's, and you have to give up exceptions, like the MLE and BAE.

TL;DR we have $80 Million in cap commitments (including exceptions we'd want to use, holds for Bird Rights, and even assumes we can cut and then resign guys like Babbitt and Withey to the minimum) That's $12.3 million over the projected $67.7 million salary cap, so even dumping Gordon's $15.5 million doesn't do much to create cap space.

Dumping Gordon and letting Asik walk puts you about $22 million under the cap, but you now have $22 million to replace 2 starters and you just lost the exceptions you were going to use to keep Ajinca/Cunningham and add a wing like Gerald Green/Mike Dunleavy/Jae Crowder.

Unless the incoming FAs are perfect fits/significant upgrades, I'm not sure we target any that we can't trade for. Creating cap space to sign them is giving up Vasquez and Lopez to sign Tyreke all over again and I hope Demps has learned his lesson from that.

Mike can correct me if I have some stuff wrong but that's not just corncerning lopez but someone like Dragic as well. We're better off keeping asik+MLE SF.

I'm cosigning the hell out of this.

Isn't the MLE going to be worthless?
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Seemed like Dino was insinuating a sign and trade with Asik and RoLo.

If he would take 9mil a year that'd be awesome. But I don't see it being anything less than 10. I like the Brandon Wright idea though, especially if we lose Ajinca.

I can't remember many, if any, double sign and trades executed. You need 4 parties to be on board and that is almost impossible with how hectic FA is.

Worth less? Maybe. Worthless? No. It will still be the largest contract that a team without cap space (usually playoff level teams) can offer. Since it is no longer linked to the cap you may find situations where teams with cap space (usually not playoff level teams) are paying so much more that players choose money over situation. But teams with cap space will be aware of the limitations of the MLE, and will adjust their offer to MLE level targets accordingly. Just because they can pay $5 million more than the MLE doesn't mean they will. We're talking about players 5-8 on a roster typically with the MLE.

    I most likely misunderstood but...
