Was JVG already in discussions with Pels before season's end?

Okay this is totally on some conspiracy theory stuff. I just found it weird that JVG would appear on the telecast before the game to talk up AD to the public but not actually commentate the game. Why wouldn't he commentate the game if he's there?



What do you guys think? Is this weird? Or am I tripping?

Like all conspiracy . I believe it's very possible but not probable. I mean, they were consulting with Dumars despite the fact that they had a general manager and a head coach.
Kind of ironic to me that Mickey Loomis suggested that the pelicans will go with
more of a traditional set up with head coach reporting to a general manager and such.....
when in fact he and his role do exists.

On top of that, the decision did seem to catch Demps off guard and between the NFL draft and The Collapse at home vs. the Warriors, I also have to think Loomis hadn't finalized his decision yet.
