Thread: Pelicans front office still mum over Demps future?

Pelicans Pelicans front office still mum over Demps future?

You think Demps is coming the back and Jimmy is just stirring the pot or the Pelicans front office maybe actually looking a different direction?

    http://www.nola.com/pelicans/index.s...l#incart_river

But with ownership still mum regarding Demps' future - it still has not announced whether the team will pick up his contract option for another year - a cloud of uncertainty exists in the short term moving forward.

Does the team re-up Demps and continue to endorse his building philosophy or move in another direction?

I examine that in today's podcast.

Tomorrow he will probably write about Ryno's/Reke departure.
Cause there is not official data about him...
    It is just silly.

There is no official Pelicans info (what a surprise people!) and there is another silly article...

It could be that they've been busy with the draft, but it wouldn't be surprising if Demps/Monty are Plan B and they are waiting to see if Plan A hits the market.

Why send out the letter of congratulations and the vote of confidence to Monty and Demps if you are going to turn around a month later and fire them?

Jimmy Smith is what Jeff Duncan is to the Saints.

Lol I haven't clicked his links in over a year maybe.

And what if we bought in Thibs as a defensive assistant?
That would be awesome, to me neither Monty or Thibs alone make a "guaranteed" championship coach but together? Heck yeah.

So what is everyone's thought on Fletcher's story that Joe Dumars could be joining the team this Summer in some capacity?

    Grantland also mentions Dumars

    http://grantland.com/the-triangle/fi...or-the-future/

It feels like these guys should rank higher, given Anthony Davis’s potential free agency a year from now, questions about the surrounding parts, and new rumors that Joe Dumars could still arrive in some supervisory big-picture role above GM Dell Demps — rumors that don’t appear to be heading anywhere for now.

  16. #16
What the **** is this organization thinking if they let Dumars be a supervisor to Demps?

Benson and Co. have baffled me at almost every step with this team.

So Fletcher's rumor is linked to Grantland which made up the rumor.

    Winning!
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

The fact that it keeps on getting brought up by different people in the media is worrisome. Does not help also that Loomis is friends with Dumars supposively .

  19. #19
Dumars needs to be made AD at McNeese St.

The "dreaded vote of confidence" happens a lot in sports. It wouldn't be the first time someone got fired after getting one.

I have said for months that my biggest worry is the lack of a true foundation for this franchise. The great franchises have an owner who has put a President and/or GM in place and a GM who has put a coach in his position. They are all on the same page. We already know Dell and Monty's philosophies don't mesh. Now, Monty is saying he answers to Loomis, and now there are rumors of some other guy coming in and hovering over Dell.

It's just not the norm. It might work by accident, but this is not how great franchises lay their foundation. Either give Dell full power or let him go and fully retool the FO. That's my $.02
