Thread: 3 second rule....

    3 second rule....

Can somebody please explain the 3 second rule to me? Every time Asik gets the ball at the top of the key, Bogut sags back into the lane and stays there. I thought that was illegal. Usually you see a guy moving, stepping in and out the lane. This guy is flatfooted in the middle of the lane double teaming Davis. Shouldn't that be a 3 second violation or an illegal defense??? I appreciate any insight.

Sure.. it's a rule. It's also against the rules to take three steps without dribbling, but that didn't stop Leandro last night did it?

Since Asik is the guy with the ball Bogut can do that. If Asik were sitting out there and someone else had the ball and Bogut was in the lane guarding nobody it'd be 3 seconds.

Which he was also doing. Smartly, he wasn't even paying attention to Asik on the offensive end.
