and they have done virtually all of it short handed.... one way or the other....

That just tells me this team has enough talent to beat any team in this league. We lost those games due to a lack of focus and overall lack effort. The team wasn't ready play. The players take some blame with that, but something has to change. Its easier to change a coach than it is to change a roster. This roster is good enough as it is to be a contender in the west. We can make some changes with the roster but the pool of talent is good
Dell Demps PLEASE get us some scorers!

The talent pool is inconsistent, just like our results. The roster is filled with specialists and/or inconsistent players. With Jrue out injured, that just increases the variance in results. Leading to unexpected wins and losses.

A new coach would definitely made AD catch that easy pass that just went through his hands
The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.

ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding

These words should not be used lightly

Tyreke looking really good, taking smart shots and making good passes.

Asik is absolutely beasting today. He's my MVP for this game.

  8. #58
I swear AD looks like a freaking guard when he drives.

and that step thru by tyreke was nasty.

    been loving asik lately

I do agree the talent pool is inconsistent. But its good enough to contend in the west. Jrue is our glue guy and it does hurt that he is out. But even with the injuries this team should be ahead of okc. A team that has been decimated by injuries this year.

There's something missing with this team. Like the tone isn't very good. The team can come out and go up by 17 against the rockets then find a way to be down by 10 in the same game. Then I see the repeated mistakes over and over again. Tyreke inexplicably charging into defenders on a 2 on 1 fast break, Ajinca not properly setting an offensive screen, the team throwing up ridiculous lobs towards to the rim, the repeated defensive breakdowns, etc and I blame that on coaching.

Then the overall game management is also below average and at times poor. The lineups, in game adjustments etc....Monty has been inconsistent just like his players

That wasnt easy pass. It was a dumb pass by tyreke. He throws a bullet to AD who literally standing two feet away from him. Almost impossible to catch

offensive rhythm has looked terrible since tyreke has come out, usually its the opposite

  13. #63
Not saying Monty hasn't been inconsistent. Everyone involved with the team has, from ownership on down. Changing coaches ain't gonna make as much a difference as letting the roster continue to play and make adjustments.

They are nowhere near a contender and the best coach ever wouldn't elevate the current roster to that status, either.

so if jrue doesn't play for the rest of the season do we get that injured player exemption thing?

  15. #65
EG is starting to feel it.

Steve Kerr and Golden State is a good example of how a coach can elevate a team to another level. Same exact roster from last year and now they are the #1 seed in the west. What variable changed? The coach.

No, he would have had to miss a bunch of games and stop playing sometime in early January, iirc. And then the exemption can only be used during this season and goes away after the regular season is over. I *think*. Could very well be wrong.

Like, there is as much difference in talent between GSW roster and ours as there is from ours and the Sixers. They actually have a great bench and great starters.
