    Ryan Anderson's Turnstile Defense

In a league increasingly valuing shooting and spacing of the floor, a positional role that has seen a prominent rise in the past decade has been the “stretch 4” − a power forward who can stretch the floor with proficient, if not deadly, shooting skills from the perimeter.

Even if not a household name, with a robust average of 2.77 3FGM per game over the past three seasons as a 6’10" power forward, Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans has been one of the marquee stretch 4s in the league. Putting defenses in difficult pick-and-pop scenarios or with his mere presence stretching out the defense to open the floor for his teammates, Anderson is a true matchup nightmare and an incredible weapon for any team on the offensive end.

rrible Anderson has been playing on defense this season. Both film study and Vantage Stats show that Anderson has been playing some abhorrent defense this season, with his two main cruxes being lackadaisical rim-protecting effort and an inability to keep his man from blowing by him.

So far this season, Ryan Anderson is allowing opponents to shoot an incredible 51.54 percent against his defense, which is also the worst mark of all bigs (PFs and Cs) in the league (average for PFs is 42.93 percent).

That is one thing I absolutely do not miss about ol' Ryno.

Did you guys see all the lay ups and open 3's Anderson gave up tonight against the Rockets? Oh wait, he is still out. This TEAMS defense is awful! Blame coaching, youth, injuries, whatever, but no matter who is on the floor the D stinks.
It's that the Hornets unashamedly quit so quickly in Game 4 after fans in New Orleans showed up this season with greater regularity than the team could have ever dreamed, shaming misinformed know-it-alls like me who kept telling you that local residents couldn't possibly invest their time and money into something as trivial as rooting for the local basketball team while still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. - Mark Stien ESPN

Thought this was an accepted fact by now. The guy couldn't play alongside AD because he let guys like John Leur and company go off against us.

When Jrue, Davis, and Asik are on the floor, the defense is really good.

That defense and his poor offensive performance in the clutch this season is my biggest grudge against Ryno.

I honestly think that he shouldn't close out games unless he is red hot in the fourth quarter.

If he is not he needs to be pulled in favor of Asik or whoever is hot that night.

It could be. That trio has barely been on the floor together to learn each others tendencies. Only fair grade is an Incomplete.
