Thread: Our new "when healthy" rotation

    Our new "when healthy" rotation

after 4 games w/o 3 of our biggest players... some bench players (including the 'new guy' Norris Cole) have stepped up and proven they deserve minutes

so when Jrue, AD & RYNO return... how do you see our rotation?

    I go...

starters- Holiday, Gordon, Pondexter, AD, Asik

bench- Cole, Evans, RYNO, Ajinca & some stagger of a starter

    Our new "when healthy" rotation

Bench will probably be Cole, Evans, Cunningham, Ryno, Ajinca.

I could honestly see Q-Pon going back to the bench and Dante going back to the starting lineup cause there is not enough spacing in that group.

I knew I was missing someone and couldn't put my finger on it... can't believe I forgot Dante

but I think you have to have Q-Pon as the starting 3 w/ Cunningham off the bench

There isn't enough min to keep everyone happy and Monty hasn't prove he can keep a good rotation when we have full roasters.

    There is 240min totoal
Holiday, Gordon, Evans and AD will eat at least 32min each, total 160

Asik and Ryno at least 25min each, total 50

    that is 30min left amount

    Pondexter, Cole, Ajinca and DC.

I don't have answer for that and lucky it is not my job.

Maybe better if Jrue and Ryno "take more time to rest" and we ride following line up for the rest of the year and see how far we can go.

Gordon, Evans, DC, Asik and AD plus Q, Cole, AA and Rabbitt

Looking at this I never realized it but I am not sure Cunningham is a long term fit here unless we move Ryno or go back to starting Tyreke at the 3. Even then I don't know.

He isn't starter materiel unless he can add a corner 3 at a respectable rate and volume, so that rules that out(though he may start to finish this season off).

Ideally we are going to sign a starting caliber SF this offseason or trade for one.

If Evans is going to come off the bench Pondexter seems like the better fit for spacing and outlet purposes.

If Ryno is still here he gets his minutes at the 4. If he is gone Babbitt seems like the smart fit.

So where does Cunningham fit longterm? I love the guy but I never realized it but maybe he can't really be in our longterm plans unless he is really cheap and doesnt mind a lot of DNP.

I would definitely prefer qpon starting because he has a little more range on offense and defense plus he has some playoff experience. However, in all likelihood, we start cutting down to an 8 or 9 man rotation. So for me the minutes would be holiday(36), Gordon(35), qpon(25), Davis(40), asik(25) with Evans(36), ryno(25) cole(12), and ajinca(6) off the bench. Cunningham comes in if we need energy or someone's in foul trouble. I could also see more ajinca minutes if ryno struggles and we can use the size to our advantage (like against golden state)

Honestly. I would love it if Anderson just got Davis`backup minutes and we never went small with him + AD. Monty will accommodate him by playing small and giving him his 25+ but he hasn`t done anything this year to deserve it. He has basically been Bargnani.

after thinking on it a while... this was pretty much what I was coming up w/ in my mind... you are going to have to have the "twin tower" set-up going in some form to protect the paint... whether it's AD & Asik, AD & Ajinca or Ajinca & Asik (of course if you need offense... RYNO would be on the court in place of Asik/Ajinca)

even w/ Evans play as of late... you have to keep a true PG on the court at all times... so that's Jrue & Cole sharing minutes

Gordon will get his minutes... Evans would play the 2 and 3... Q-Pon would take time at the 3 & RYNO would be 3 or 4 depending on line-up & I really think you have to limit his minutes esp. if his shot isn't falling (so closer to 15-20 instead of 25)

Cunningham would be DNPCD or a defensive specialist or designated fouler role

In a few months Dell turned a team with no depth and no assets into a team with minute issues (when healthy).

the trade ninja... very quietly gave us a quality bench during the middle of the season

think about it... we were "the other team" in the 3-team trade that got us Q-Pon... and I believe the Cole deal was the same thing except it also got lost in the clusterfrick that is the trade deadline

edit: oh yeah... and randomly finding Cunningham off the "he was accused of crime but the charges were dropped so let's give him a shot" pile

I think historically with Davis and Anderson on the floor we're an elite offensive team, so i can't really agree here.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Yes and we are also absolutely horrible defensively. Also Anderson of previous years is certainly not Anderson of this year.

Sure, but hes also coming off of surgery. So let's not cast him as a bad player yet.

Demps has always been good at finding above average role players. No homers yet though. The problem is he just hasn't been able to structure their contracts in a way that we have really been able to take advantage of it. It sometimes feels like we end up being a farm for other teams: Rolo, Belinelli, Vasquez, Smith, Morrow. Great finds that we seem to let slip away and are now key cogs on teams with championship aspirations(excluding poor, unlikely Smith).

The positive side to this though is that despite what I may think about his bigger moves, I have pretty strong confidence in his ability to find role players in a pinch that fit our needs.

And with Davis and Asik we are a really good well rounded team.

Jrue, EVans, Gordon, DAvis and Asik together post a 111 OFF rating and 97 Defensive rating.

While the Jrue, Evans, Gordon, Davis and Anderson lineup posts a 120 offensive rating and a 116 defensive rating.

Ultimately I like the former over the latter. And given his struggles in clutch moments I would close out the game with Asik over Ryno unless we were down by a lot and needed offense. But even then we likely would just tread water and not catch up.

I really wish Dell could find more of these guys/deals in the offseason. If we went into the season with DC, Cole, QPon level players on the bench, instead of Salmons, Rivers, Russ... we'd have a better record right now and we'd be defending a playoff spot instead of hoping for one.

Sometimes it seems like Dell's deals are a day late and a dollar short.

Saying as he used pieces we acquired in the offseason to make these moves I'd say it'd have been pretty hard for him to make the move this summer. He was busy getting Asik trading nothing but expirings.

He is all about Opportunity. QPon and Cole weren't available this summer and Cunningham was still battling legal issues.

It really seems like nothing he does will make some of you guys happy. lol.

Now that he has more than enough good players to take this team to the next level let see how it play out in the off season as we can't keep them all.

I'm happy with what Dell has done. Wish he could have made moves earlier to have more of an impact on our record.

Dell doesn't have to make me happy. it's a beautiful day. We're a half game out of the 8th spot, and we wouldn't be of we didn't have DC, QPon, and Cole.

But I hope it's not a problem, on an off day without a game, to wonder how well this team would've done if Dell found players better than Salmons and Jimmer in the offseason to fill critical needs at SF and PG.
