do You see Young as a real SF (or a reserve PF)? he is not a real SF, I prefer cheaper option in Dante (someone between SF/PF)
Pekovic has no defense and is injury-prone
Martin is injury-prone lately with no defense

Evans is starting to play consistently and other teams noticed it. If You wanna move him, he is worth much more...

    no way

Rubio is set to return this week, which makes Mo infinitely easier for Minny to move now. Gotta believe that they jump at the first second round pick they are offered.

    MM,

Can we sign and trade Wolters?
Would we keep Mo William's bird rights?

    Thanks

We can't trade Wolters, under any circumstance.

We would not have Mo's Bird rights, since he is on a 1 yr deal with a new team. However, using the Non-Bird Exception, we can offer him a salary starting at 120% of this years contract while we are over the cap. So, we could give him a contract around 4.5 mil - which will be more than he will get offered anywhere else.

Long story short, if we want him and he wants to stay, it won't be a salary cap issue that keeps us from retaining him and we wouldn't have to use the MLE or BAE to retain him

Can he play off the ball?
Is he a good defender and can he knock down the 3?

If a guy was all those things, you couldn't get him for a 2nd round pick.

Is he better than Jimmer, Wolters, and Rivers - Heck yeah, by a wide margin.

Defense is about average for a backup guard. Above avg 3-pt shooter for his career. Excellent mid-range shooter. Willing passer who doesn't turn it over too much.

Another guy to watch for is Ramon Sessions. Fits in some areas, has a contract that goes into next year at a reasonable cost. Young vet type that Dell likes. Gets to the free throw line at a crazy rate, and is an active defender. Shooting is atrocious this year, but that is not the norm for him

Sessions is a guy that often goes off vs us. We also like going after guys like that as well.

Okay, lets say we land Mo and he decides to stick around next year....What do we do with the MLE ?

Advanced stats do not favor Mo nor Ramon Sessions, though they might be better than Jimmer, Rivers, and Wolters. We have done very poorly (other than Jrue) in selecting point guards that produce value for our team. Our best option is to use Tyreke as the backup when Jrue gets back, and to try out some defensive minded guys from the D league or Europe in the mean time.

I agree with NOENGINEER, but what position do we try to get now?

    pg JRUE/REKE
    sg EG/QPON
    SF DANTE/QPON/
    PF AD/RYNO/DANTE
    C ASIK/AJINCA

THE ABOVE IS WHO WE HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH LATELY. SPRINKLE IN JIMMER, BABBIT, & WOLTERS
WHAT DO WE NEED COMBO FORWARD, COMBO GUARD?

Pelicans need a proven vet. No time to experiment with a D league guy or a Euro. Some who can hit the ground running. ..without the big learning curve

I think a part of Dell's thinking has to be that he just doesn't know when Jrue will be back and whether or not the issue with his leg continues to bother him this year. Eric's labrum is still slightly torn and could go at any moment.

You can't just assume those guys will be able to play 25+ games after the AS break. You gotta go get a guard. If our 3 guards all stay healthy in the second half of the season, then thats fine. But I don't think you can go into the trade deadline assuming they will

We would be crazy to trade TE now, but I can see trading Jrue which I ner would have said 10 games ago.
