I miss the Vroman/Dickau/PJ Brown days. Those teams had some fight.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.
I've advocated giving Monty a full season this year to make a fair evaluation on his performance, barring a major meltdown. Does this road trip qualify as a major meltdown? Man, it's close. We just beefed it to the Celts, 76ers and Knicks. That's hard to do. I know AD and Jrue being out was a big deal. But one of the things I was looking for is how the team performs when a key piece or two are hurt, which happens fairly often in this league. We failed that test. A hard fought win in Toronto was nice and the Detroit win (with AD) was maybe the best we played all year on the road. But losing to these eastern conference cellar dwellers when you are clawing for a playoff spot is troubling. I've got to think Monty is on thin ice. If the team responds on its upcoming home stand, I think he is safe. If it continues to stutter and drops more games to bad teams, he'll be out by the all star break. That home stand will also determine if we keep Ryno or trade him before the deadline. I sense management is reluctant to give up on making the playoffs this year, even if the odds look increasingly long.
Honest question, what happened to Jimmer? Did he get hurt? Why did we pull him out?
