Thread: What to do with Dante?

  1. #1

    What to do with Dante?

Cunningham was superb in loss to Warriors (6-for-7, tough defense), but where do the Pels play him? When he's an undersized 4 or 5 he puts himself into situations to hit the long 2, which he does quite well. When he's a substitute 3, he seems to be extremely tentative because he believes (probably rightly so) that his main obligation is to space the floor and take a few shots if they become available. Maybe it's a nice problem to have, but Sunday's performance shows he does have a pretty good offensive capability in addition to his hustle and defense. When Davis gets back, perhaps Monty can experiment a little bit with DC. Just sayin'

If he is to continue to get minutes he will have to play the 3 spot.
If he can improve his shot out to the 3 point line then I think he will be on the roster next season.

Wondered why we don't start him, but then we wouldn't have any defenders on the 2nd team AT ALL. Rivers isn't defending as he used to, and Ryno, Ajinca, Gal, and Babbitt would be a terrible 2nd team defensively. I do like the idea of him in the final 5 until EG gets back though.

Jrue/Gordon/Reke/AD/Asik and gordon subed up in the first 3 min for babbit

I think we should keep him around regardless of the development of his 3pt shot...

    Really?

Maybe we should review that **** call against Dante that got them to force OT.

He should be starting at the 3 IMO.

But then you take all the energy off the bench.

He deserves to start considering EG is still out but once he comes back i hope he spells Tyreke at the three and Salmons is traded by then.

Right now he deserves to be coming off the bench as a defender and energy guy. When Gordon comes back Dante should come off the bench as a defender and energy guy. He hasn't yet earned a starting role over Babbitt, Rivers, or Withey. However, he should be ahead of Fredette, Smith, and Salmons.

I agree, primarily based on the shooting and spacing. Unless Dante can start hitting 3's, he needs to come off the bench. I actually don't really have any problems with how Monty has used him so far overall.

We should bring him back next year. He's tough and not afraid to take big shots......

hes a perfect bench guy. as a starter, we lose even more bench depth

    We re-sign him.

Keep Babbitt starting, he's our second best shooter.

He has hustle that can change a game. I hope to get that from Russ one day.

If Monty can convince Gordon to take a Jamal Crawford type of role our bench can immediately go from weakness to strength thanks in part to Dante being added & Withey playing solid as of late

    Jrue
    Evans
    Babbitt
    Davis
    Asik

    Austin
    Gordon
    Dante
    RyNo
    Withey

    Finish games with:
    Jrue
    Gordon
    Evans
    RyNo
    Davis

I'll tell you what to do with Dante.

We shower him with love & praise, for we have found our new Jason Smith.

"Some people would call it physical, but that's not physical. That's cheap...He didn't put neither one of us out of the game, so you've got to come a little harder next time if you're going to try to throw a cheap shot. If you're going to do it, do it." - Draymon Green

"Barnes after getting elbowed was left with a nasal fracture, chipped teeth and a mouth laceration that required stitches. He is questionable for Tuesday's game at Memphis, as coach Steve Kerr said he would be surprised if Barnes didn't play wearing a mask."

If he would've come a little harder, Barnes would be dead and buried. - Caffeindisastr
