Eric Gordon Out Indefinitely with Torn Labrum

    Per the team:

    @PelicansNBA: Injury update: http://t.co/GdquwEEiQs
Eric Gordon will be out indefinitely with a left shoulder injury.

@HPbasketball: Pelicans announce Eric Gordon is out indefinitely with a torn labrum.

Welp. There you go. Time to get Rivers and Russ some burn.

You can play thru a torn labrum, but I'm sure he chooses to get surgery to insure the rest of his career. The surgery rehab for a shoulder can linger. He's gonna be out for awhile.

What is the usual timetable on this sort of injury?

Jason Smith had this same injury two years ago and surgery ended his season.

If he gets surgery, he is pretty much out for the year. If he tries to rehabs and it works, it would be 4-8 weeks.

My bet, is to assume he is done for the season. Maybe February return at the earliest.

for a complete 110% recovery? If you go the surgery route, 6-9 months.

Knowing Gordon i'd say 9 months. If he gets surgery, which I'm SURE he will, he's out for the year.

    Injury exemption?

    Time too see Rivers flourish.

I wont be surprised if Rivers stays coming off the bench and one of the spot up shooters starts. Our bench would be pretty terrible without him

Mr. Glass strikes again. Sorry EG, hope you get well soon.

This team won't make the playoffs until he is completely off the roster. 2016-2017 season at the earliest. What a god awful signing he has turned out to be.

How does the injury exception work? Could we acquire a player by trade or only sign players?

The Pelicans are 18 points better per 100 possessions with Anthony Davis on and Gordon off than with both on.- Hpbasketball

    1-6

With Rivers and Jrue Holiday on the floor, the Pelicans are plus-8.4 per 100 possessions.

I honestly don't know I just found out about it but if a player is out for the season on injury u get a certain % of his salary to use in free agency. And he has a big salary lol.

plus minus? so are they +8.4 or -8.4?

Earliest return would be February from what I've read. Latest no return this season.

Could be a back in time for the playoffs type thing if they can manage it. I'd assume the staff would choose that instead of relying on Rivers. Good grief what horrible luck.

Despite all the ridiculousness I see on this site, this injury is really going to hurt this squad this year. They really don't have a replacement on the roster.

Could get a guy like Russ some meaningful run since he can potentially play a more important role next season. Jimmer only an inch shorter than EG & if we just want a spot up guy who can have Asik behind him to make up for his defense he can be a decent option so we dont mess with our second unit
