Makes sense. Dell made Asik trade assuming rules would stay the same for at least next year.

I think the way picks are given out needs to change, but I was never a big fan of this change.

What would have changed? I am looking on the forum to get a layman's breakdown and I am not finding anything.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

Isn't it interesting that now that Cleveland has gotten what they wanted, they vote for a reform? No team has benefitted more from the current system recently than them.

I wasn't a big fan of the proposed changes. But having said that, I hope the Sixers obvious long-term tanking plan doesn't work out. I know I'm more than a bit hypocritical in saying this, but semi-tanking one season for a better shot at a transcendent talent like AD is one thing and not even remotely trying to field a competitive team for three (or more) seasons in a row is a different matter altogether. Just doesn't seem right.

teams closer to the playoffs but didn't make it would have a more even chance at getting a top-6 pick

that's the TL;DR version of it

edit: also the "lottery" would be top 6 picks... not just top 3

"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin
