I guess his heart was in Phoenix after all.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

Hopefully they will get some of the pain they put on us over the last 2 years.

I think the will he's had 2 MCL surgeries and removed it. All this in a short career of playing back up minutes.

The Jrue and Tyreke contracts just keep looking better and better.

Oh lord do they have a nice crop of point guards, hands down the best group of point guards on any team in this league. I also expect Alex Len to have a big/better year along with okafor coming back who didn't play at all last year. Who thinks our record will be better than theirs? Last season roster-wise they were an under 25 win team but they sure did put it together. Add Bledsoe who was hurt, Isaiah Thomas from the kings, okafor, Tyler Ennis, and more chemistry this upcoming season, it would take a lot for this team to not make the playoffs. So if this team can do it can we? I think we have more overall talent but they are better coached and play better team defense together.

Okafor is a FA. He isn't on the Suns roster.

They will miss Frye SPACING and out back court can be just as good not to mention our front court is 20× better.

It will be interesting to see the contract details. Might not be as horrible as some think. What if it was something like:

    Year 1: $10 mil
    Year 2: $12.5 mil
    Year 3: $14 mil
Year 4: $16.5 mil (team option)
Year 5: $17 mil (team option)

Again Year 1-3 price on bad legs is pretty bad but if it's slanted to the end and has team options for those years might not be super super horrible. Year 3 he will be a perfect guy to trade. So you will basically pay him $9 mil then $12.5 mil then trade him year 3 if he doesn't pan out to a team looking to dump salary for the upcoming free agency of year 4.

It's not that often you see a contract that big with team options on the back end. If anything it will probably be player options.

If it's player options they are dumb. Wait....we did that too with EG lol. I'm not an EG basher but I would not do that for EB. Player options would kill that team down the road with that contract. But maybe they are considering the new TV deals and the raised cap in the near future. Still would be sweet if it was a Team option last 2 years. I guess more criticism can be made when we see the contract details.

This contract is straight 5yrs. No outs
The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.

ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding

These words should not be used lightly

Like I said, contracts of that size almost never have team options like on the back end. It's usually no options or a player option. Otherwise marque players wouldn't sign those deals.
