He tends to put the ball on the floor unnecessarily when under the basket which
gives the defender's time to contest his shot. If he is 3ft under the basket he should learn
to go straight up and avoid having to go to the line.

Hopefully he improves that.

Yeah, I just want him to be a good enough offensive player to have defenses respect him when he rolls to the basket. Don't need much else from him there for him to earn his money. Preventing two points is the same as adding two points. If he scores 8 points, and prevents 8, that is a guy who nets your team 16 points and 10-12 rebounds per game. Perfect for this team

Excellent post.....Asik is the real deal. His presence will elevate this team on defense tremendously. He will be the enforcer on defense and the garbage man on offense. The great thing about that is that his loves the role. He has no fantasy of being a stretch 5. Excellent fit.....

I'm honestly looking forward to his screening more than anything else offensively. Can't remember the last guy we had who could set really vicious picks. AD has become somewhat more effective as a screener recently, in the kind of spiderweb way where he uses his length well and pauses enough to make it annoying for the guard (he was really awful his rookie year). But I can't remember a guy recently who could really lay you out. That isn't only useful in the pick and roll... we can use his screening to get the ball to AD or EJ curling around, or to free Ryan Anderson up on backscreens. And multiple times yesterday he showed the ability to flip the pick depending on what his guard wanted to do.

Aşık is the ****in man! Amazing basketball IQ especially for position. He can average five assists per game with a guy like AD on the team.

I think we all knew his best asset was rebounding defensively, but what really caught my eye, when he was in Houston, is his ability to make the outlet pass to initiate the offense... he should get a similar opportunity here now.... that and screen setting....
