One really positive thing Dell did was add Asik. Our rebounding was very poor compared to other teams.

I think you should look at this box score then.

So much this the OP is acting like bench players will be playing against lebron and shiz through the whole game and that every bench in the league should be starters like whaaaaaat

    Why not?

GSW especially is not a top tier offensive team. At least they weren't last year. Defense carried them. Their offense was nearly identical to ours in efficiency last season.

If anybody is interested - Ajinca will not play in the Basketball WC. But not because of the injury but because of the ucoming birth of his child.

I love seeing these quotes about our backup center

So with star center Alexis Ajinca announcing shortly before...
    This is a blow
    And who will replace him?

I like your optimism about Rivers and that would be the main thing that would change my view of the bench. He really needs to MAN UP!

People would've said the same about Morrow last year.

I really hope Patric Young can show he's able to get on the court because he can help this team with defense. He probably will get very few minutes if any at all.
Rivers is a bad NBA defender. Gordon is a bad NBA defender. Evans is a bad NBA defender. Anderson is a below average NBA defender. Freddette could be the worst NBA defender. Ajinca is an above average NBA defender. Miller is a top 100 NBA defender.

The units will be staggered, always have at least 1-2 starters on the floor. When you have a roster this top heavy, this is how rotations work. It is how the rotations went last year when we were healthy.
    No teaching ITT.

If not, I still like our bench with Rivers/Salmons/Anderson/Ajinca. All those guys are solid at their role and Anderson is phenomenal.
Russ Smith can get the job done.

    True.

I hear ya lol, I sat here for nearly ten minutes trying to figure out the 'bench- squad'; despite having coached h.s. basketball for the last fifteen years and never having done that with any of those teams.

Subbing five in at a time is ludicrous. It takes a while to get acclimated ya know, at least one player should remain in whereas to have a feel for the game.

    let's try it like this:

sub 1- ryno for SF (ryno takes to the 4, AD slides to the 5)

is another substitution made here? if so which one? if not, what's the next one?

Great game. I remember that. Tyreke exploded and scored 41 points. That's not the average, not the norm. Look at the box scores for ALL OKC vs NOP games then let's talk.

The point is if this is our final roster I think we will continue to have problems against superior offenses. We need a 3 and D SF and a pesky defender on the second unit, backup, whatever you people want to call it. It seems like a lot of you don't understand what it takes to win in this league. We have to improve in every area. 3 pointers, Assists, and "team" defense ha which we actually don't have. This team is not a threat to do much at all. IF they stay healthy maybe they'll get in the playoffs. But until Dell gets another significant piece I'm going to doubt we will see the playoffs. If you want to breakdown my argument go ahead. I'm all ears. Do all your homework and tell me how Freddette, Salmons, and young, smith are going to add to anything. I love Smith but we'll see... Do your numbers you can't make a strong argument that this team will be much better except for healthy players, AD progress, Asik. A ton of wishful thinking in these posts.

Pesky defenders on the 2nd unit eh?

How about Russ/Austin/Tyreke covering the permiter. All are very capable on-ball defenders. (also good for spacing Tyreke against other teams 2nd string on offense)

And we have our 3&D (Miller). He just won't 3 until someone screams at him.

Good point, IF Tyreke actually plays D off the ball D along with Russ actually getting time on the floor. I agree with on the ball D from these guys are hopefully going to help.

Keep in mind the off the ball D is extremely important against teams like Clippers, GSW, Spurs, OKC etc because of their exceptional motion on offense and superior assists.

Indeed, teams that set screens for shooters that play the 3 will give Tyreke issues chasing them off-ball.

However, there's this little tid-bit he's given us:

    http://instagram.com/p/q0sPxsPUTL/

If he can improve his terrible jumpshot, he can improve his defense. There's lots of hope.
