This was a dumb move why he couldn't just get Hamilton?

Banking on more moves is wishful thinking but hey. I hope so

if we still have the room MLe. I like this deal. He'd be a decent reserve and it's only a 1 yr deal. But if we wasted the room MLe on him I hate it

I love Monty and I have to agree. Replacing Roberts with Salmons.

I would think there has to be. I'm just a little stunned we would pay more than the minimum to someone like Salmons.

    overpaying salmons? really? Oh god.

Whoever is there just has to not mess things up. If you want to find a guy who won't mess things up, you look for a vet. Yes, this does feel a lot like Willie Green, but Willie Green has been in the league this long for a reason. Sometimes it just isn't about stats and dunks and hype. Sometimes you just want a smart vet who doesn't mess things up that can provide some guidance in the locker room.

Salmons played in playoff games last year. How many other FA's that we were looking at could say that? How many minutes did Casspi and Hamilton play in Houston's playoff series?

I don't love it. But I understand it.

The Asik trade has not been approved/announced. It does appear the Hopson trade was already announced though (which could poke holes into my theory). I was trying to see if there was any way that Salmons could be taken into space before the Asik trade is finalized. The only way I can see is if the Hopson trade comes after the signing. If it occurred in that order, I think we would have about $2 million in space. Maybe just grasping at straws.

like I said if we still have our room MLe it's. A decent move. veteran guy who would be a good backup. if we blew it on him I hate it

    Roger Mason Jr?

Here's Dell over doing it with the off season moves like he's on XBox360. Its kind of like a west coast head coach over calling passing plays just to prove hes a genius, when actually hes hurting his team (defense) with a 90-10% pass to run ratio. Signing John Salmon for what? Salmon is old, can't move his feet, and he doesn't get back on defense. Typical non athletic player Monty wants, but he stress DEFENSE!?

I wonder if we could still get Hamilton for the min

We need a veteran presence in the locker room & someone who would only accept a one year deal. other guys on the market are likely searching for 2-3 year deals at least and we need the cap room next offseason to really address the SF position when there are significant options

So, now that Dell got Salmons instead of below average SF 'X', he is hurting his team?

    Oh boy.

Is that the RE we used?

Or is it the 1.3 from casspi's non guaranteed contract, plus some extra money. If he has a 2 million dollar deal, we would only need 570,000 +, with Casspi's release right?

That would mean we didn't have to use the RE if we released Omri Casspi already? Thats if we had that extra money after all the deals. MM?

So if we still have that, we could still offer the RE to a SF like Wesley Johnson, Salmons could just be getting that veteran presence/debt while you can.

And who knows - maybe Dell isn't done yet! But that requires us to wait for more. Can't do that!

    Pitch forks!

I like how if Dell makes a move plenty of people don't like, they immediately blame Monty.

Don't know yet. Only one reporter tweeted the details of the deal. We are going to have to wait to get all the facts. But we can't do that. Got a game tomorrow!
