If you were, would you do the deal?

    Rivers and CDR (or Garcia)

    OR

Marvin Williams on a 4 yr deal

Might the Cavs be willing to take Austin Rivers?

They can't just give us Alonzo Gee. But if they're about to trade Wiggins/Waiters for Love... they might have a need for Rivers.

If I were sure we could? Then yes. Not worried about finding that long term SF until we get Gordon off the team.

    No Rivers, MLE, BAE

Room and BAE basically cancel each other out. So, Rivers or MLE?

With the market and the guys left, I take Rivers, get a stop gap and wait to next year
There's always the hope that we involve one of our FAs in a S&T.

Send Gee to Houston and Aminu/Smith/Roberts+Cash to a third team.

Maybe one of those guys has a deal on the table, but we came up $1M short, so Dell pulled an Ely/Babbitt for Gee trade to get an extra million unguaranteed to seal the deal.

But how would you get Gee in the first place w/o using cap room? That is the issue

Just me speculating, but I think Dell will find a way to keep Rivers and the core 5 (AD, EG10, Reke, Jrue and Ryno).

The question is... how the h3ll do we fit a small forward or 3 into the mix with our current cap situation?

Frenchy, Babbitt and Gee are possibly gone along with Ely (who's definitely gone). I don't know how, but I'm sure Dell will make it work. I can also see us keeping 1 of the SFs that are on our Summer League team. Remember Sutherland was on the team at the end of the year and got some minutes. I can see him making it as depth. Darius Miller is still available and he showed SOME promise at the end of the year when given heavy minutes.

I don't know who will emerge as our 3, but I'm hoping with the players I mentioned above, Dell can somehow swing a deal for a starting SF that's not too expensive. Gerald Green maybe... since Phoenix is going after Deng and has re-signed Tucker.

SHould be an interesting weekend. MM said we will know more on Monday, so that's what I'm waiting for now.

I think that is a bit of a reach. If he had a deal in place to S&T some of our guys, I don't think he would have to pursue this Gee thing. But we will see.

So we trade Ely and Babbitt for Gee and then Gee for Asik?

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

I don't think that will be the case.

Think Dell is gonna pull a nice rabbit out of his hat here. Not an elephant, though.

And thats fine. If we were told Asik and someone like CDR and all we would lose is Morrow, Aminu, Roberts, and Babbitt - who would have said no?

    Here's my hope:

    NOP out:
    Ely
    Babbitt
    Roberts (S&T)
    Protected 1st
    Cash

    NOP in:
    Asik
    ---
    HOU out:
    Asik

    HOU in:
    NOP protected 1st
    Gee (waived)
    ---
    CLE out:
    Gee

    CLE in:
    Pelicans cash
    Ely (waived)
    Babbitt (waived)
    ---
    Fourth team out:
    Nothing

    Fourth team in:
    Roberts (around $2.5M)
    Cash
    ---
We keep Rivers, MLE, BAE, and Bird rights to Smith and Aminu.

How can a team not trade anything and still get something??

  19. #69
That fourth tema must send something for it to work

Not if they have cap room or an exception - which numerous teams have

  21. #71
Still have to send it, be it a part of the exeption or whatever it is

  22. #72
if they only have cap room, then it's not a trade, it's a signing

The team can send some fake 2019 top-55 protect 2nd round pick. Happens all the time.

  24. #74
still gotta send something. as it is put there, it's misleading, one might believe a team don't have to send anything in a sign and trade or even a regular trade

  25. #75
    but got you!
