Well we aren't making the playoffs and unless we get in the top five we lose our pick so id say for the long term benefit of this team we do need to lose.

ya and i seriously doubt we finish bottom 5 for the next 5 years, if we luck out and can get the #1 or 2 pick and get embiid or wiggins im game, if not im fine with them getting the pick this year, even though i love rodney hood
If the Pelicans players, play as hard and as well as they can, then they are showing how good they are. That way, they can be traded for another good player or draft pick. So, I want them to win by playing great, individually and as a team.

No it stays top 5 protected for a few years and then becomes a 2nd rd pick.
Top 5 protected until 2019 where PHI will get a 2019 and 2020 second round pick.
Most important is the development of AD.
Anything else is just icing on a very delicious cake. Plus the news that Parker and Embiid may be staying an extra year makes this draft pretty bad outside the top 2.
