Oh now they are taking him to the back to check. Crazy, I hadn't even heard of this condition and now two people in a couple days. Still, the guy has what's suspected to be the same thing as Anderson and he's not in a neck brace or anything.
They said the Charger had a cervical stinger?

They said neck stinger. But yes, I assume that's the same thing.

    I don't think so.

It's kind of difficult to compare some injuries. Are the bodies the same? Was the impact the same? Were they hit in the exact same spot?

Saying as cervical literally translate to "of or pertaining to any neck." I have no idea how they aren't talking about the same thing. A cervical stinger is the same thing as a neck stinger.

If the doctors suspect a spine injury, that could be the reason for more testing.

I think that's what we're all worried about.

If it's (just) a cervical stinger, here's more on it.

I'm no doctor but I thought it was a positive that he was at least able to move his legs, feet and arm while on the floor and stretcher.

Sure that's a huge positive that he has movement in all of his limbs. I think best case scenario is its a cervical stinger. Worse case is much worse.

Doug Mouton just said right quick on the news still no update on Anderson and that he's being evaluated by a spine specialist but he does have movement in all his extremities. He said the Pelicans hope to have an update tomorrow morning.

"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin

That's awesome. Ryan needs his teammates right now.

I feel for the guy. This has got to be the {Mod edit-veiled cursing} year of his life.

That being said, I'm a huge fan of his and he will be in my prayers.

If anyone has the character to rise above all of this, it's him.

Pelicans trainer Jon Ishop starts talking about Ryan's injury at about the 27:00 minute mark. He didn't say much except Ryan is doing well, he's still under evaluation in Boston, talking to friends and family and last time he spoked with him he was eating pizza and pretty much his old self.

My continued prayers go out to Ryan Anderson and his family.

Maybe he knows something that we don't yet?? Continued prayers wouldn't be necessary if he was ok, right?

I think you may be reading too much into it. His friend is hurt, it's just support.

    Ryan Anderson ‏@ryananderson33 4m
Haven't been able to watch Gia's special yet, but I heard it was beautiful and just what she would have wanted. Thanks @theyearofelan

Really strange that any sort of status update has not been released to this point.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."
