true shooting percentage is a scoring efficiency measure that takes both the fact that 3 pointers count for more than 2 point field goals just like effective fieldgoal percentage, but it also takes freethrows into account. effective field goal percentage favors wing players heavily due to the fact that it doesn't consider free throws. Essentially the higher the true shooting percentage the more efficient scorer you are. Field goal percentage is a flawed stat.
