CONCEPT81 : New Orleans Pelicans Logo Redux!

So here's my take on our brand new identity! First off, I changed the colors opting to use the ones that I chose for my own concept, the difference being that I went with a deeper, less navy blue. I also two toned the beak making the gullet/pouch gold to show separation (can't figure why they didn't do this). The last thing I did was to use the font currently being used by the team now. I did this because I think it's better, bolder and more 'New Orleans' looking than what they decided to go with. It's one element of their current design that I felt no need to be changed but they did anyway. What say you?

The font we have now does seem to be more New Orleans looking, but I'm guessing they wanted a complete overhaul from everything, ya know.

Not a fan of your font, I'm really excited about the font they came up with on a jersey.

This version fixes the two issues I have with our new logo:
- The beak and gullet being the same color (It stood out to me when I first saw the logo, and seeing it "fixed" confirms it).
- The font of "Pelicans" at the bottom (Why go with such a plain san-serif font? Seems out of place).

Yeah I do agree that the official logo's Pelicans is quite bland, but I think that was on purpose. It's the same way with the CCB logo.

Actually like the Red more now. It adds some intensity to the logo.

Would have no problems with your design, but I do prefer the current one. Just like the colors better.

I really like the colors you propose. I can't say they're better than the current ones, though. It's a tie.

I knew that the top of those wings reminded me of something, the 1960 Boston Patriots hat logo.

Much prefer the current font & colors to your alternative.

But would've gone with some of your earlier options altogether if given the choice.

In general my complaint is just how busy it is. I think simple, sharp & classic is better. When you put this on a hat, you can't tell what the heck it is unless you're way up close.

Also it reminds me too much of a pilot's wings.
