It's for the best. He hasn't been the same player this year. Hopefully this time off when help his thumb as well. He needs to be that pick and pop shooter, and so far he's been pretty bad compared to what we have come to expect from him.

So that means we won't have him the next time we play the Clippers.

Jason Smith will miss up to 2 weeks due to a shoulder sprain. Monty said he hurt it trying to block a Kevin Durant dunk Wednesday

Wow this sucks for Smihtty - love his passion and energy. Sure he'll bring it on the bench though.

And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Probably more minutes for AD at 5 and less at 4. Giving Lance Thomas more minutes at 4. I would assume we'd see a good bit of a Davis Anderson front court.

Smith is saying he has a torn right labrum.

New Orleans Hornets forward Jason Smith suffered structural damage in his right shoulder when he blocked an attempted slam dunk by Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant with 10:01 remaining in the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's 92-88 loss against the Thunder.

The team said prior to Friday night's 113-102 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves that Smith would be out at least two weeks.
But Smith said Friday night that possible surgery to repair the damage has not yet been ruled out.

"We took an MRI (Friday) and it's bad news; bad news," Smith said. "Did some damage. Labrum tear. (Surgery) is still up for debate. We'll have to weigh the options and go forward from there."
Earlier this season, Smith sustained a subluxation of his left shoulder, a separation that pops back into place without severe damage.
Though that injury was painful, he said, the discomfort is nowhere near what he's feeling now.
"I didn't even feel it the next day," Smith said, referring to his condition on Thursday after the Hornets returned from OKC. "I don't know what happened in that time period. We had a day off (Thursday) and it felt OK, a little sore. But it just locked up on me (Thursday) night.

What do the fan favorites of the Saint and Hornet have in common?

Jason Smith just can not shake the injury bug. He's having a tough time staying healthy in his short career even in limited minutes. I hope this isn't too serious.

Given the history of the hornet injuries I really don't know. This sucks I love his production and toughness of the bench.

Torn labrum is a big deal. I don't think we'll be seeing him again this season.

Rotator cuff? I like the guy and his effort but he is a foul machine who can't shoot. Many times during a game when we need a bucket he throws a brick. His defense strategy is foul early and often.

Really? A handful of subpar shooting games this season with thumb and shoulder problems means he can't shoot. Awesome.

Obviously you probably only started watching the Hornets this year. Jason Smith has had a thumb injury and shoulders injuries all year. He was MONEY last year in shooting that high post Pick and Pop. I was surprised when it didn't go in last year.

    Thanks!

    Great news.
I was worried that this would be a season ending injury that would determine if we extend his contract past 2013/14 season.

New Orleans Hornets injured forward Jason Smith may return this week

"I imagined he will be back sometime this week depending on what I’ve seen,'' Williams said.
