what hurts is that i'm sure they considered a bunch of good ones. I don't consider myself hard to please. I mean I had a few favorites and all but i actually liked around 8-10 of the suggestions, just of the ones i myself had heard. Pelicans was truly the only name i was actively rooting against. It even made me come around on other names by comparison.

No what makes it bad is how a Pelican is a very goofy awkward looking bird to be naming your team after when said team is located in a city with such a rich and awesome culture.

Benson paid nearly 400 mil for the team so it's his call but I for one was really hoping he was serious about seeking help with name.

Angels in the Outfield made that name acceptable, and the Saginaw Spirit are located so close to Canada that I don't evan count that as an American sports name.

It'll be okay. In a few years you won't even realize how stupid it sounds. They play in a league where teams are named after weather, car parts, and pants. Far from the worst imaginable.

New Orleans is all about being unique, offbeat, and incomprehensible to outsiders. This name fits us like a glove.
