    parking lot scam...beware

parked in the lot at loyola/girod last night as usual
and as usual...only one working kiosk

so the line is 30 deep ten minutes to tip and people are getting cranky
dude shows up, in the parking co's uniform, with nametag/ID, and starts taking cash from those in line, says he'll note which cars have paid because there's no ticket on the dash

i'm all too happy to get going so i pay along with about 20 others
get back and all the cars are booted
call parking people, dude shows up and we all pretty much gang up on him

come to find out the guy taking money wasnt an employee, just a local entrepreneur
40 mins later the boots are off and we split

why this operator only has one pay kiosk, and why there is NEVER anyone there before gametime to manage the line is ridiculous enough. that they can't manage to keep their customers from getting ripped off and booted is negligent.

    anyway just be aware
i'm finding somewhere else to park

    Thanks for the heads up.

I just park in "Champions Parking Garage" right next to the arena. It's 15 bucks...but you get in and out of there VERY quick. (it used to be 10 but benson bought that whole area and it went up 5 bucks...champion's parking sign = 5 dollar increase apparently)

Same. I get off of work at 4:30, though, so I am able to make it in plenty enough time.

The guy that showed up was the guy that put the boot on the car. He waits until you leave and he puts the boot on your car. Then hangs around knowing you will show back up eventually and then charges you $100+ to take the boot off right then and there. I am surprised the "boot" guy took the boot off your car for nothing. He gets paid per boot. He pays off the parking lot owner to do the work.

Thanks for the notice about the fake "entrepreneur" though.

no...the guy that showed up taking money was not an employee of the lot
    he was a thief

the guy that put the boots on was a lot employee
he called his superiors and they told him to go take off all the boots

thanks for the notice about the event for which you were not present, though

    Nice!!!

I wasn't referring to the guy that took the money. Of course he was the lowlife scum robbing you.

I was pointing out that the guy with the boot is not a full time employee but a contract worker for the land owner. He gets a cut for every boot he puts on the cars. It's not about warning you but more of catching you. He wants you to leave without paying so he can get that boot on you. He doesn't boot people...he doesn't get paid. Hence why I stated you and your parking brethren were lucky he agreed to take the boot off for nothing. Basically, he worked the night for free.

Dude, just park parallel on the street. Free after 6. Been doing it for years.
