A)The Hornets have not displayed a consistent enough alertness with their OFF THE BALL DEFENSE yet.

- slip cuts out of pick and rolls
- slashers off the weakside
- consistent rotations vs ball swings that evolve into weakside cutter
-alertness defending the player that just gave up the ball

Keep in mind "off the ball" defense requires the most alertness and communication.Young players struggle at forst in this area because of the quickness iof the game.

B) OBSERVE THE BALL and PLAYER MOVEMENT
-In the early stages of the season this is the foundation that coaches will oberve carefully. The when to PASS and when to SHOOT question is the most difficult aspect of the game.Young players and players that haven't been on the floor together under "live fire" will eventually learn their roles and shot distribution..who is hot and who isn't...and see the favorable matchups or situation.

C) WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE BALL IS IN THE AIR?
- oberve the action blow, who are the players that go after shot attempts and what are they doing with them?
This is an often overlooked aspect of the game! What team does the most with missed shots?

Three vital areas that the Hornets must develop a solid foundation in.The first month of the season will allow us to see what habits are developed and which ones are a constant.

Enjoy the games!
