Thread: Hornets possibly interested in Eddy Curry?

  1. #1

Rumor Hornets possibly interested in Eddy Curry?

Even in the event Eddy Curry doesn't make the Spurs, word is he's played well enough to have drawn interest from several teams, which are supposedly keeping tabs on him. Then again, Curry no longer seems like such a long shot to make the Spurs' final roster. The Bucks, Trail Blazers, Hornets and yes, Bulls, all may have an interest if Curry is cut loose.

Never listen to media speculation. It's almost always fluffs and opinions. Unless a refutable media guy comes along and reports that the deal is pretty much final, it's probably useless info.

It's a message board. Media speculation is discussed. I'm just passing along the info.

Exactly. And I just commented on the matter. 99.9% of these speculation never amounts to anything. Useless chatter. Demps have came out and repeated said that he was pretty much done with making moves. With guys like Davis, Anderson, Smith, Lopez, Thomas, and even Alabi, there's no reason to bring a cancer like Curry on to the team. Demps has always avoided bringing in guys with questionable character and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

supposedly he slimmed down quite a bit.. better 15th man than the three training camp invites

Yes and that's a lot of money for an end of the bench player. You have to develop guys like Davis, Lopez, Thomas, and Smith. They take priority over a guy like Curry. We aren't looking to compete for a championship. We are looking to develop players and build chemistry. A guy like Alabi at the end of the bench with a cheap non guaranteed contract is ideal. A guy like Curry is more ideal for a team who is trying to compete for a championship this year.

Vet min guys count no more than a 2y vet. The balance is paid by the NBA and the cap hit is only the team portion.

I just realized that Curry qualifies for the 10 year vet minimum. Still, I think it would be a terrible idea.

I think it would be a terrible idea, but the price isn't the reason.

No way the team would be interested in Curry. Isn't quite the right fit.

Emeka Okafor - Al Jefferson - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Damon Stoudamire

Brad Miller - Samaki Walker - Mickael Pietrus - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

I can see why there's speculation because we have absolutely NO ONE on the roster that can catch a post entry and make a post move... We have no post players on the roster AT ALL.

i'd rather they go after Dikembe Mutumbo.

I never have a problem with kicking the tires on guys like these. If we think they can help sign them for next to nothing. If not just move on.

The only problem with that is the potential need to play the guy just because he's a "name" in the NBA. Not saying that MOnty relies on reputation, because he probably/ definitely doesn't, but if we don't play him, he might just mitch and bone the entire season.

Yeah I don't think we need him. Don't want him taking minutes away from Davis, Lopez, Smith, even Anderson sometimes (I can see him playing the 5 when we go small). Would rather have a young guy with potential if we need just a 15th man.

Not sure he's guy I would want in a locker room full of young players. Pass.
