Welp. Almost time to hit the road and go to this thing.

If you spy a lineman sized man with glasses and a deep voice, its probably me.

Heading there now. Spur of the moment decision, but I decided I would see more action at a Hornets practice than watching LSU's offense play a real game... I kid, I kid

Davis is as good ad advertised. Ryan Anderson's shot is so smooth. Aminu seems to be running with the backup squad. Large crowd here compared to last year. I have some videos on my iPhone ill try to upload later

A huge collective gasp when Anthony Davis crashed into the floor seats.

And then I said "He aight."

-Gordon and Smith were there, they dressed, but didn't play.
-Mason Jr. shot well from deep.
-Rivers and Davis shot one airball a piece, but Rivers was able to get to the line, hit two 3s...though one could've just been when they were in drills. Davis hit at least 3 jumpers. 3 dunks, the dude is Mr. Fantastic. Seems to just reach up and he's at the rim. Dunks with no visible effort whatsoever. No blocks, however, because he was guarding Anderson who stayed on the perimeter all day.
-Aminu always felt on the verge of posterizing someone when he attacked the basket. Mishandled the ball a few times, but nothing major.
-Brian Roberts knocked a shot or two down. Just was kinda out there otherwise.
-Lance Thomas ran the floor like a greyhound and scored on a solo fastbreak
-Anderson hit a couple 3s and swatter Aminu's shot once. Had another dunk.

    Lopez grabbed a few rebounds.

Smith did the honors of introducing the team. Of course The Brow got the loudest applause.

Also, people like Monty. He addressed the crowd after the scrimmage.

The Man. The Myth. The Brow.

Almost called Darius Miller, Grievis Vasquez...don't know HOW he mixed that up.

No it was Lance Thomas. He was like, you're not Greivis Vasquez, you're Lance Thomas. Still though, don't know how he mixed that up either.

    Hornets open practice on 10/20

Interesting that Lance got the 1st chance at the 3 with what appeared to be the 1st team squad in Black to start the scrimmage. You can say we're just trying new things, but the rest of the Black lineup was:

    Vasquez
    Rivers
    AD
    Lopez

Miller started at the 3 for grey team. Has Monty come to the conclusion that if Miller and Aminu aren't going to stand out offensively he'd rather just match a heady defensive player who matches up defensively better with the elite forwards of the league? Is he our Brandon Bass/MWorldPeace?

Pretty much sums it up. Although maybe you missed it Davis did have one swat of Anderson in the lane. Called a foul but not so sure he ever gets that call in reality. Anderson was going to the rim with some weak moves. At least he's trying. Also worth noting Rivers had a nice floating runner from the free throw line. And he had a really nice slashing play where he switched hands and layed it off the glass. Shades of Iverson.

I recorded a few plays and most of Monty's speech. Ill try and upload in a bit.

The entire crowd gasps as Hornets rookie @AntDavis23 jumps over the first row of courtside seats for a looseball...

...Then sighs in relief as he pops right back up after taking out the whole row!

I thought the crowd was very impressive compared to last year. One full side of the lower bowl was filled up

New Orleans Hornets rookie Anthony Davis plays to the crowd during Saturday's open practice

Those New Orleans Hornets fans who came out to see the team work at New Orleans Arena Saturday morning got the opportunity to see how rookie Anthony Davis, the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft and part of the future of the organization, works.

    And they didn't leave disappointed.

Davis was diving after loose balls over courtside seats, defending, rebounding and scoring both inside and out.

He said he enjoyed the experience.
