NEW ORLEANS — Hornets assistant coach James Borrego is leaving New Orleans for an assistant coaching job with Jacque Vaughn's new staff in Orlando.
Hornets head coach Monty Williams says current New Orleans assistant Bryan Gates will be taking on more responsibility in Borrego's absence. Williams has not said when he'll make a new addition to his staff, which also includes Randy Ayers, Dave Hanners and Fred Vinson.

Did he get a better job? Or was it a lateral move?

I'm surprised Borrego got pulled away before Ayers did. Good for him, hope it works out.
Hopes its a legendary big man or some sort.
2013-1014 is the season the Pelicans fanbase grows!!!!
why would he want to be the assistant coach of another team when he's one here.

Darn. I liked him. I wonder who we have lined up to replace him?
I agree with Eman that it is most likely for more money.

Interesting move, I don't think there is another team better positioned to become a dormant for the next five years. At least he's got some nice golfing during his free time.
