When i like the Lakers, I like Shaq's Lakers. I think this is now Dwight's Lakers and I am starting to like them. They have the best center in his prime, Kobe who will still be Kobe, and one of the best point guards in this league. I mean how could you hate a team that has three of five starters average double-doubles (except when they play the hornets).
The Lakers are always looking to compete for Championships. Waiting to develop talent doesn't line up with this thinking so they make big trades or FA signings to speed up the process. Very similar to what the Yankees do in Baseball...
The Lakers will NEVER be high pick lottery team and their will NEVER be NFL style parity in the NBA, which again is pretty much impossible when considering how much the league lacks franchise altering talent. Some people need to stop having a hard time coming to grips with reality.
wow now its hard which team I hate more the Heat or the Lakers
Nash and Kobe are professionals.. but howard is just concerned about his image (and making kids and hide them)
I like that :
Howard is known for having a personality that often lacks the proper seriousness even during games.
"That will be an interesting dynamic," one ex-teammate of Howard told Yahoo! Sports on Friday. "Not even just with Kobe. I don't think [Steve] Nash and Pau [Gasol] will enjoy that at this point in their career."
With Howard, Bryant they'll live in the penalty. The FT numbers will be absurd. Because this team will be deconstructed when we're good, I don't really care. If they buy a team after Kobe and Pau are gone, they'll incur the really terrible luxury tax which will limit their mobility, so I'm not that worried.
Interesting stat (And scary for us) to whoever was arguing that the Lakers don't draft their own talent:
Q. Since the NBA instituted its draft lottery in 1985, how many No. 1 overall picks have won a title with their original teams?
A: 2 David robinson and Tim Duncan...
"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Five? Six? Eight?
Try this: two.
David Robinson and Tim Duncan. That's it. And Robinson only did it with Duncan. If you consider Duncan a power forward, Orlando lucked into the two best young centers of the last 20-plus years: Shaquille O'Neal and Howard. And for that, the Magic will get zero rings.
This is the thing that people miss about the NBA. Yes, it is a stars league, but stars alone do not win championships. A star just gives a franchise a head start.
"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."
Uhp. May as well trade Davis now then.
Now I do voice overs. Finally!
Click here for my first voice demo!
No reason to stress, lets be real, Howard's stats will diminish, and Nash's role will not be as big, or it will lessen Kobe's ball holding
New Orleans Pelicans-Seattle Seahawks-Atlanta Braves-Anaheim Ducks
This fits HunnyB/FlyGirl so well- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyzTiSEfM00
The Pistions were: Billups- traded for,; Hamilton- traded for; Prince- Drafted; Rasheed Wallace- traded for; and Ben Wallace- Traded for.
1st heat championship had Shaq, TRADED FROM THE LAKERS and the major piece in the championship run besides d wade being called for a foul every time someone breathed around him.
The Bulls and Spurs were mostly homegrown, but the bulls were a different era IMO and the spurs were on that cusp.
If we can somehow get the eighth seed next year, we will more than likely be playing LA again... Man I feel like that'd go badly.
