Expected player PPG, RPG, BPG, and APG

Today Mason posted an article on hornets247 about his western conference playoff seed expectancy. So that inspired me to right my own article about each players 2012-2013 season. I did this by taking his expected minutes per game (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...3OE9tLVE#gid=5) and each players per 48 minutes ranking of the 2011-2012 season and doing the math. It is important to note that Darius Miller and Austin River's stats come from Summer League, while Anthony Davis's comes from college.

    MPG APG BPG RPG PPG

    1. Eric Gordon 35 3.5 .4 2.8 20.8
    2. Ryan Anderson 32 .49 .4 7.4 15.4
    3. Anthony Davis 26 1.05 3.8 8.4 11.5
    4. Austin Rivers 24 2.6 0 1.8 7.5
    5. Al Farouq Aminu 27 1.1 .6 5.6 7.4
    6. Xavier Henry 6 .2 .06 .8 1.8
    7. Roger Mason Jr. 9 .6 .05 .9 3.6
    8. Darius Miller 2 .04 .04 .26 .4
    9. Robin Lopez 18 .4 1.2 4.2 7
    10. Hakim Warrick 5 .3 .03 .9 2.2
    11. Jason Smith 20 .7 .8 4.1 8.3
    12. Lance Thomas 8 .15 .08 1.6 2.1
    13. Greivis Vasquez 28 5.8 .1 2.8 9.6

    Total MPG:240 APG:16.84 BPG:7.56 RPG:41.56 PPG:97.6

It is color coded because it didn't space the way I wanted it to and their isn't a way to make a graph. Hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think.

Got a strong feeling that Austin Rivers won't only barely score more a game than Aminu.

based on summer league, this is a distinct possibility.

    Can't tell if serious.....

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

These aren't my guesses. These are just expectations from math. Austin rivers will score way more than Aminu but I got the information from his summer league play. Simply math.

His game is tailor made for the NBA so it will be easier for him to get to the basket. He's already got a better shot than Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook when they were coming into the NBA. Also he has Gordon, Anderson, and Davis to feed the basketball to as a PG. Then he's 6'5" so he'll be able to rebounds better than Gordon. If Tyreke could do it why not Rivers.

Averages should be greater than 240 minutes per game since players will miss games. Backups will end up with more playing time and that will push their minutes per game averages up.

Some key players though, I'll take a stab at it and say:

    Eric Gordon: 35.5 MPG 21.5 ppg 4.2 ast 3.0 rpg 1.5 stl 0.4 bpg 45.5 FG%

    Anthony Davis: 33.0 MPG 13.5 ppg 1.3 ast 10.5 rpg 1.3 stl 3.2 bpg 53.5 FG%

    Al-Farouq Aminu: 28.0 MPG 8.5 ppg 1.2 ast 5.8 rpg 1.2 stl 0.6 bpg 42.0 FG%

    Ryan Anderson: 30.0 MPG 14.0 ppg 0.8 ast 6.8 rpg 0.7 stl 0.4 bpg 44.0 FG%

    Austin Rivers: 24.0 MPG 9.5 ppg 3.0 ast 2.5 rpg 0.8 stl 0.1 bpg 40.0 FG%

    Robin Lopez: 18.0 MPG 8.0 ppg 0.2 ast 4.8 rpg 0.2 stl 1.0 bpg 52.0 FG%

I expect Davis to get more than 26 minutes per game.. I'd be surprised if 13 minutes went out to Warrick and Thomas this year.

I took the minutes from Mason Ginsberg. Really thought more people would be appreciative.

idk man I think Vasquez averages more points and assists than that right? If Davis avgs that amount of Blocks will that be a rookie record? hmm

Pretty cool stuff. Obviously a lot will differ but its a good barometer for seeing results than wild speculation. That said, allow me to speculate wildly. The Hornets run such a slow half court offense that the point totals seem a little high when summed up. I doubt Davis or Anderson will score as much as projected.
I also really doubt Skynet swats 3.8 shots per game. Last year Ibaka led the league in blocks with 3.7. For a rookie to come in and suddenly be the best shot blocker in the league seems crazy. Although Shaq had 3.5 blocks his rookie season. The coolest thing about that though is that although I doubt it will happen, I know its a possibility. Davis was a blocking madman during the olympic trial games.
I also think Rivers will have more assists now that he's playing point.
Again, great article. I'd rather have an article like this than a discussion over who tweeted something bad about the Hornets again.
