Are we underating Jason Smith Potential?

*Yes I spelled underrating wrong but bare with me:*

Let me start to say Im a huge fan of The Enforcer. And I think this season Jason Smith will surprise a lot of people. He has been bulking up and working hard all season long for the C position, and i think if healthy, we may see something great with him.

Im even predicting an MIP voting from the league with Jason Smith. Am I the only one who thinks he may have a real special year?

If he can develop that Dirk post-up fadeaway he could be dirty.

I think we saw his max potential last year. Nothing wrong with that, he is a very good backup who can start if need be. I like the guy but I can't see him being any better than he was last year.

he won't get the playing time that is necessary to win MIP unless davis or anderson is out for most of the yr

He will never be a post player, but should be a very effective player who can face up and shoot.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

    No, we're not.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

I think we are overrating him

If team need isn't considered, I think he's a better overall player than Lopez. Nothing wrong with a high efficiency, high energy 7 footer with a wet jumper.

JASON SMITH IS EASILY BETTER LOPEZ. Thats the guy you guys are overrating.

listen, we've gotten way more than we expected out of him.. he was borderline d-league when he came and now hes a quality role player.. we shouldn't expect to see huge improvements from last year

I'm happy that he's a solid role player too. Think he's a locker room guy as well and a hard worker.

i think he will be good but not even close to MIP worthy

Sadly, I must admit that when naming the players on the Hornets, I almost always forget Jason Smith.

Smith is the enforcer, the hustle guy, the bull dog, Smith leaves it all on the court EVERY game. He should never be overlooked!

So happy with the Hornets core of Bigs...Davis, Warrick, Smith, Lopez, Anderson.

He is who we thought he is! He won't get much better than he is. I think he's already reached his cieling, which isn't bad, just not great. He is a role player at best.

    Jason Smith > Robin Lopez

    That's not saying a lot.

Jason Smith is a great 3rd big (as H247 puts it, ELITE 3rd big). Put him in the starting 5 and suddenly he looks different

this. People are treating Lopez like a savior and is overlooking the better player in Smith.

They do different things. Lopez is an 'elite' 3rd C. I have them pretty close to the same.
