Thread: [Official - trade complete] Hornets Trying to Land RFA Lopez from the Suns {merged}

Thought we were saving cap space so we could hold out for someone better. Not wait until the free agent pool is dried up and spend it on mediocre players.

What a message board wants /= what the Hornets actual plan is.

Yea I guess thats the way to think. But I really hope that's the case if we acquire him

^This.......and also I wouldn't be surprised if we're giving up a 2013 lotto protected first in this deal...I wouldn't mind it tho....next yrs draft outside of a few guys, is complete garbage...

Warrick is awful. I think Lopez is too. I hate this move. I hope there is more to it because it looks like we're getting raped.

Why tie up cap for two years with a zero like Warrick while overspending on Lopez. Just don't like it but I'm sure Demps has a plan.

That would make this a horrendous trade.

I doubt Demps and Williams want to field a team of "options". Besides if this is a 3 or 4 year plan to contention then what good does cap space do for you in year 2 of that plan? Acquire good players on short 1-2 year contracts then make a play for a near max or max guy when you know what you have in your young players.

You don't say? I simply assumed they were doing the smart thing, not necessarily because it's what the message board says. But thanks for your useless contribution.

    this man speaks the truth.
Neither warrick or Lopez is worth anything. Sign Thomas and Bowles and call it

You can doubt it but... in the end it's just speculation no different than mine.

Total waste of space, and pretty much cements us as 9th-10th seed for 2013-2014.

I would be happy with Lopez, and we gotta make some questionable moves...

Sorry i'm not making assumptions on personnel without knowing what their long term plans are, i guess I should condemn or praise every move made instead of seeing what the long play is.

Warrick would be an expiring next year so i don't see how it "cripples" the team in any way.

Lets not act like these guys can't improve under Monty.....

Lopez is obviously a project with potential to improve. Warrick is a declining known quantity/bench fodder/role player. Surprised some people are more optimistic about getting Warrick than Lopez.

You sure on that? We're too young imo. If we do that well I'd be amazed. I'm expecting more around a 25 - 30 wins type of season and another high pick. The Jack trade means were going to be playing Rivers a lot at PG this year. So i don't see us finishing that well jmo tho.

In jest, of course, since even with his permission he can't be traded for ~60 days (I think).

I guess what you should be sorry for is making assumptions that I don't believe they have a long term plan, just because I happen to disagree with some of the moves. I don't have to "praise" or agree with every move they make either. That doesn't mean I assume they ought to base their decisions on a message board, nor does it mean that I don't think they have any plans. I just don't have to agree every step of the way.

Most people haven't seen Lopez play much, on a reasonable contract he could be very helpful for the team. you guys wanted a "big body center" right?

  24. #224
Hope it's a sign and trade with Carl Landry to get Lopez somehow. Would like Ridnour, Barea, or Wes Johnson in the deal too, lol! Would love for it to look like this:

Hornets: Robin Lopez & Luke Ridnour
Suns: Wesley Johnson & Wayne Ellington
T-Wolves: Carl Landry, Xavier Henry, & 2 Suns 2nd round picks one being Lakers

I think we can do well with Lopez, he can be a real good backup for us
