Birdman Chris Andersen Amnestied - Third Time in NOLA's a Charm?

The Nuggets parted ways with Birdman late last night ( http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/ey...ny-Randolph,-w ). Do we give him a run as a bigman this year?

Looking at his stats some interesting things pop out.

PER of 19.0 and 18.9 the past 2 seasons.

Averaged 12.4 ppg and 11.0 rpg with 3.4 bpg per 36 minutes.

For anyone interested in the advanced stats stuff, Birdman's have been great (PER, avg/36min, win shares) since going to Denver after the drug suspension. http://www.basketball-reference.com/...anderch01.html

I say lets give him a chance one more time (even with the creepy internet porn case he has going on right now).

No thank you. We're not contending at this point and we don't need a guy like that on this young, impressonable team.

I am not sure what the problem is with him. I think he still has some game in him. Seems better than a lot of other names being thrown around at this point.

Looks like a Monty kind of guy? What does that even mean? If you are going to try to be cute with your little smiley sign, at least post something worth reading.

It means we have a collection of young guys and our best player may or may not want to be here. It means we don't need an ex drug addict who is being questioned in a child pornography case. The negatives and potential negatives of Anderson far outweigh any positive he brings to the team.

Simply put, in the time Andersen is on the floor, he produces. The tattoos and hairstyles and all that other stuff doesn't matter if he's taking care of business on the floor. By all accounts he is a solid team guy, not a cancer like Blatche.

I thik they are more likely to gravitate towards Ryan Anderson's leadership than Chris Anderson's past and appearance.*
Yea and isn't it being investigated that he was set up by a scorned woman. If that is the case, and I am not sure either way, I hope to God people do not hold that over his head too.

That is my point. Everywhere he has gone he has produced and is reportedly a good locker room presence (Sounds like a Monty kind of guy ). I am not even saying I want him or that I think he we will even be interested, but talent wise, I like him better than a lot of other names being thrown around right now.

BRAWHAHAHAHAHAHA ! you are just too funny ! Saints and Owens and Jones ! When talking about the Hornets ! You are amazingly witty !

As far as I know Chris was guilty of having a serious drug issue at one point in his life. He seems to have turned his life around, from drugs, and has had some good seasons since. I am not sure how that was hard to follow, but like your use of punctuation and attempts at internet cuteness, I am becoming more accepting. As far as the kid porn, if he is guilty I hope he goes to jail. If he was set up by a woman scorned, I hope he get retribution and is able to continue his career. Either way I don't really care. I do not see him as the guy the Hornets have been waiting for, but I have faith that they will bring in someone to handle the 5 that is much better than all the names being discussed. My guess is it will be much like Anderson. Whoever it is will seemingly come out of nowhere.

Pretty sure his rehabs therapist wouldn't allow him to return to NOLA!

Predictable negative responses in this thread. Instead of Andersen let's settle for some back-up that we'll build-up to as "solid" and will be good in Monty's season.

The mark of insanity is doing hte same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

By the same token, what does trying the same thing again seem to be expected to change anything now? I'd rather Ryan Hollins than bring back that over-tattooed freak show.

I think methmethamphetamine cocaine; LSD; opiates, including heroin, codeine and morphine; and PCP and child porn are a much bigger problem than tattoos ever could be..

he's 34 and has a lot of baggage. no thanks.

The Birdman is a sick individual that I don't want in our state more than necessary, not to mention being the oldest vet on our young team.

Why does this team need any of these bums some of you guys keep suggesting? I'd say the roster is pretty much good to go for a rebuilding year aside from a couple of warm bodies you can get off the street.

^^^^^THIS!!! People are killing me with making these threads for bums...we are REBUILDING...why waste money on a bum for a year. Patch up the C spot with a young SL player for pennies and focus on next years draft/FA....
