Hornets Front Office Does Read This Board: Qatar Airways Arena????

    The conspiracy gets louder...

OK, so I am hitting golf balls out at the St. Rose Driving Range this afternoon and as I slice my drive into the net, I notice a familiar 777-300 landing from the west. What the heck???? There is no reason for that to be landing here...

Hey wait a minute, my suggestion was this for an arena sponsor:

    Think Global

and this was out at MSY tonight - coincidence? I think not:

    Global

It makes sense, 2013 Super Bowl, Saints Primetime games (think blimp shots), young exciting Hornets team in a booming city, 2013 Womens Final Four, 2014 NBA All-Star game, probably a few more like NCAA regionals at some point.

    It's a 1st-Class airline too...fits well with M-B Superdome

I won't ask for a commission, just some Pelicans gear and Anthony Davis jersey for my 6-year old daughter.

You know QA would bring a wheel barrel full of cash too...Qatar is a funny place isn't it? Very Arab, yet, very western. Like it much more than UAE.

It is spelled Qatar. A Middle Eastern country. Doha is the capital. The worlds leading producer of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG). PEople very friendly. World Cup 2020 - seriously. Actually has a Catholic Church - which is forbotten in Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait. Quietly - Regional HQ for SW Asia Military Ops.

I don't think many New Orleans area public and private schools require students to take world geography.

Nothing new or original to this board. Qatar has been putting tens of millions of dollars into New Orleans since Katrina. See, e.g., Xavier University. Hat's off to them. Wouldn't mind them sponsoring the Arena, too.

I believe you have to stop in Qatar in order to reach Seychelles.

One day.... One day... Maybe It'll be a direct flight from MSY??

Back on topic, I thought Zatarain's and the Louisiana seafood board was a cinch for naming rights?

Also they give a ton to Tulane, Children's Hospital, and various other institutions. Somewhere around $100 million in total. A lot of other middle eastern countries did, too, including UAE and Saudi Arabia (if I recall right).

Qatar is so into Sports sponsorship. They already sponsoring FC Barcelona and PSG in France. They have flights to MSY via JFK and like others have said, they have spent tons of money in New Orleans. Would LOVE that idea.

Qatar has been rumored since naming rights for the Arena became an "issue". Could be nothing more than them visiting for some other money drop into Universities though. Wouldn't read too much into it.
