Honestly I don't think the rule should count as you don't know the protection until the year of the draft which is a year after the previous draft ... And there's no impact from retroactive picks

That's the danger in protected picks. It ties up your assets. You cant protect 2002 top 15 2003 proects it top 15 and then have a 2004 unprotected but still be able to trade 2004 because the protection has run its course.

Well Grant Hill too, but honestly I think he's a lot better than he gets credit for in this league.
