Man, I love having all this free time on my hands! Here's the revamped Voodoo logo.
This concept's obviously based on the Bourbon street sign. I added the "NO" and diamonds on the corners because I intend to tie in playing cards with this identity. The jerseys.......are going to take a while. I want to keep the Bourbon street vibe going, but I have no idea how to do so. Also, I'm not too excited about the Purple, Black, Red & Gold color scheme. I want to shoot for something different.
Oh, and if we were to end up with the "Voodoo" name, this has to be our entrance theme:

I'm just having a hard time imagining Benson taking the Voodoo name from the AFL team. I mean, sure, that arena team isn't very good, but they still laid claim. It'd be the perfect NBA name but...it is what it is.
Think Brass and Pelicans have the best bet right now.
I hope so. Pelican and Brass are by far my favorite names for the team.

Only reason it's not my #1 name is cuz of that little formality. If it came down to a choice...rebrand to the Voodoo or keep the Voodoo as an AFL team at all? I'd kick the AFL to the curb. Never liked the amateurish nature of that sport anyway.

Now you're talking. That's basically my reasoning, too. Would be a shame to pass on a great name for an NBA team for a podunk minor league team whose league has the stability of a house of cards.

Yeah. It would be crushing if we respected the AFL and didn't go for the name, and then a year and a half later AFL folds again for good.

In general, yes, about AFL names.
Benson was involved in that branding, however. Also, that team's owners rebranded from Battle Wings when they came here. In this cass, there could be a will to change on both sides. It costs to creat a brand anyway... why not but a good one in an unstable situation?

Don't really post much but I had to express my hope for the Voodoo name somehow...I also really like Insire's revamped logo. Haven't really dug any of the other names much although I am really trying to find a second option to like.
Voodoo would be the best name if available.

If Voodoo was the choice, I would hope they'd go in a very different direction with the brand. It's so hokey at present.

It's actually regarded as the best in the AFL and one of the best logos in sports as far as fan/merchandising interests go.
It definitely fits well within the confines of the AFL, I won't dispute that. Gimmick embraces gimmick.
I know it's popular, I'm just not a fan* personally. Hoping for something less in your face with the re-brand.
*Of the presentation of Voodoo. I could get behind the name itself if done in a less cartoonish way.
