I didn't realize that Brook Lopez was a free agent. If we got Davis, then it would be interesting to try and sign Lopez as a secondary scorer to Gordon and let Davis handle the D down low. Of course he is restricted, so this plan could easily fall apart.

The list of UFAs at SF does not impress me at all. The only guy I would consider would be Novak since we don't have any SFs who can shoot.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

Robin Lopez may not be a bad option at center for cheap.

I'd agree with that, he's made some good improvements.

I also like Ian Mahinmi. Good size, EXCELLENT length (7-7 wingspan), finishes at the rim (nearly 70% on his career).

If he can add 10 lbs of muscle and become a little more coordinated he could pass as a starter.

I don't know how high they'll go but I read a few days ago that Phoenix plans to keep him.

Agreed. Not sure I understand why so many are so high on him.

I know for a fact that Hill wanted to play for the Hornets....but that was before he went to the Lakers

His potential. I mean, he's a solid player, but you can spend the money he will command in better ways.

Lots of people think he's a great defender when the truth is he is not. I remember you not wanting to touch Jamal Crawford last offseason, his and Batums defensive numbers are VERY similar, infact I think Crawfords is better in areas.

He's a defender that can guard 4 positions, with good size, that can shoot the three, has a lot of potential, that's not a prima donna and has above average atheticism; that's why. That being said, i dont think he'll ever be a top 25 player in the league.

If we get AD, bring in KG to mentor him.
Pipe dream but that would be pretty great.

He may be able to guard 4 positions, that doesn't mean he does it well though.

Right. He is not the defender he has the reputation of being. He actually is probably a below average defender. He has become a corner 3 shooter. He certainly has potential and may one day develop into a stud, but to pay on his potential could get us in trouble (not that Portland will let him go anyway).

Batum has the potential to be a really good defender with his length and athleticism. He's only 23. He hasn't been a great defender yet. Solid at best right now. He's not a bad defender by any means.

His value is high because he can shoot the 3, he's athletic who can run the floor and finish. He would be a tremendous upgrade at SF over Ariza or Aminu and would be a great fit next to Gordon because of his ability to extend the defense with his shooting and is athletic enough to finish in the paint. Good FT shooter as well. His total shooting is high. He's close to a 7 win share player as well. Big upgrade at SF.

Overall, the UFAs are pretty weak. Hawes is OK, but will likely get overpaid and is not much of a defender. Would probably prefer keeping Belinelli over Miles. JR Smith is just not worth the trouble. Bass is not really a need given our PFs. I would think we could get Landry back for not much more than Bass. Agree on Dragic.

I like Bass over Landry, but I doubt we will sign him.

Not nearly the upgrade that he would costs us IMO sa Portland will match any non-ludicrous offer. He is overrated and his defense has not been good. I agree he has potential to be a good defender, but he is not good now.
