Four colors may be a bit busy. May want to leave one (perhaps the gray) out.

I'm firmly on the black & gold color scheme bandwagon no matter what the name is

Not a fan of Dukes at all
    Formally known as WhoDatMan504

Dukes is pretty good. I could get behind that.

If it's Dukes, can this guy be our mascot?

Dukes could be branded like Knights only the name Dukes fits New Orleans much better. Pretty sure no Knight stepped foot in New Orleans other than perhaps Sir Elton John...but an actual Duke has (leave David out of this). Again, it's all about the artwork as will be the case with any name. Crappy picture I know but perhaps could serve as a guide? Here is the The Duke of Bourbon...notice any familiar symbols? What about blue and gold?

But of course, how could I have neglected Gladys, the Knight whose name this re-branded team could bear?

    My top choices are:

    1) Navigators- It represents the city's status as global destination, both historically and presently.

    2) Creoles- Especially as Crescenty City Creoles, it sounds like an old jazz band, and could look nice with some faux-retro styling.

    3) Mojo- Has its roots in voodoo, but is also a blues reference.

    4) Krewe- More of a fallback option to me, but I wouldn't be at all upset about it.

Can you clarify the actual Duke who has stepped foot in NOLA?

A Duke is a monarch ruling over a duchy usually right under the King (or Queen).

A Knight is a warrior who upholds a code of chivalry related to the values of faith, loyalty, courage and honor.

I'll take the honorable elite warrior over the pansy robe wearing brother of the King. Just saying.

    Knights!!!

All Dukes are knights, but not all knights are dukes. Also, many of the pansy robe wearers also fought in various battles, but when having a portrait painted, it was frowned upon by adversaries to wait for the artist to finish painting before continuing to fight.

The best you could do was some Russian nephew of a king who was fired as grand Admiral after losing a battle to Japan. Cool story bro!

quick question: My uncle told me that there was a New Orleans Knights team a while ago. He didn't remember what sport it was, but was pretty sure we had a minor league team with that name. The only thing I can find is the Southern Knights. Does anyone know anything about this?

Dukes of Dixieland have been in New Orleans a few times.

Also, my friend was a Duke in Thoth. Another guy was a Duke in Endymion. I think Rex has Dukes as well.

Yea, all knights are not Dukes because not every Knight can be brother of the King. It was an honorary label for the younger brothers to not feel shafted.

this is all fun and games, but I would be almost shocked if either Knights or Dukes emerged when it really counted... I especially wouldn't be a fan of the Dukie and Duchess remarks that would surely accompany one of the names...
